Honestly who cares? You essentially are doing the job of the title and you can always change ur linkedin further down the line to reflect it. Your clients and team knows the value you bring, title or not. You shouldn’t have to use labels to jusyify your worth. #NoLabels

You got the money, which is what really matters. Most people get the title, responsibility, and not the money. The official title will come, just chill.

Sounds like he did you a huge favor and it hasn’t been that long. Just wait it out. Like the other post says, you can always backdate your title on linked in

I can't even believe the feedback above! Especially from Sr people. Acknowledgment of accomplishment has a huge and rewarding psychological effect on any human and showing appreciation is more critical than money actually for many many employees to feel rewarded. This is management 101 stuff. Smh... OP, has your title changed on paper? Do you have a document that states it? From your boss or HR. Is it written anywhere officially? If so, that's proof you actually got the title in your company file. Check on that as sometimes the pay increase goes through but it doesn't mean a promotion (in title) was also processed. If it was, you can absolutely update your LinkedIn. As far as internal announcement or telling the clients and changing your signature, just directly ask your boss what the timing on that is like you have on here. Reiterate how thankful you are and also how excited you are about it and ask what the plan to announce is. Then stop talking. Be very calm and collected and confident but direct.

I would update everything. You're being paid for the role, go ahead.

I’m with GAD. It’s your title so update LinkedIn and carry on. I see no lies...

Thanks @AD1, exactly what I was looking for. Yes I do have the piece of paper that is signed by HR, my boss and my self stating my new title alongside the pay bump.

like

Thanks for the feedback everyone - didn’t mean to come off as ungrateful. I technically have been performing the role since December, pay and title just caught up in May hence why I am so excited/proud and want to share.

Other raises/promotions happening in my office for a bit. We didn’t discuss timelines, but it still hasn’t been announced and promotions within our office usually are. I’d like to update my signature/LinkedIn/etc to reflect my new title. How do I start the conversation with him asking if it is now alright to do so? I understand the want to keep it on the DL but also am a bit frustrated that I worked my ass off for this yet none of my clients know about it.

I’m in the exact same boat. My priority is the respect for my colleagues, and I don’t want to ha e any negative impact on morale. That’s way more important than what my title is.

I wouldn't post anything to LinkedIn until your title is reflected in a presentation to a client or on your business cards. Though I do agree that you want to see something from HR. Odds are your agency charges different roles out by different rates per hour. It's in the agency's interest for you to perform at a higher level unless they're worried that you'll burn through budgets faster. Get clarity and value that over anything you put on LinkedIn

#NoLabels

I was in the same situation at one point. If there’s official paperwork stating your new role, you can change it. I waited until our internal HR website showed my updated title and then updated my signature and LinkedIn after. You can backdate your role. Congrats!

I'm so fed up with the casual sexism of my mom. Last night, she was worried about my sister whose husband doesn't have "the same earning potential" as my brothers 1, 2, and 3, all named individually, so "she will always be poor". When I pointed out that she compared my sister only to my brothers, I earn more than them, and both my sister and I are at top firms in our fields, she said, "...mm". Later she said how happy I am when I'm not working and I should quit to raise kids (no kids yet)

I work at an association where they have to report the top 10 highly paid employees. Saw that my peer w/ same years of experience is making $70k more than me. I wish I had never seen this information-it has put a horrible twist in my gut and a lot of resentment. Before seeing this info, I had asked my boss for a raise based on the success I've had over the past 8 years but have only gotten 4% bump per year. What can I reasonably ask/expect ? 20%?
