I am a Principal Solutions Architect with 13 YOE of which 5 years exp is with Biotech focusing on Public Cloud (AWS) & overall AWS exp. 9 years. I need suggestions /opinions if applying for a Senior Solutions Architect (Level6) at AWS makes sense or if I should aim for a Principal SA (level 7) role at AWS with Healthcare & Lifesciences industry experience. If it makes any difference, I worked for AWS ProServe as an external SA in the past. Any insights / feedback appreciated.

Look at the kinds of projects INFY does - some consultants are stuck doing support or staff augmentation for years. Also check the travel policy - do you have to relocate for each project? And pay careful attention to the benefits package and travel policies - in the past they have had caps on expenses and the difference comes out if your pocket. That could factor into the higher base salary. Make sure you’re comparing apples 🍏 with apples 🍎
I had two friends that worked there out of school. Infosys does not care about people one bit. They bring the India mentality over here and its work til you die basically. Does not matter if communicate time off and plans or any of that. Culture is just terrible. One of them was at an Apple project and his manager would not let him leave the office and took his car keys. If you’ve followed the news you will also see how bad turnover has been at the highest levels. For those without US Citizenship I suspect that the abuse is even worse. They definitely don’t have the same quality of work as Accenture either. Like someone said a lot of staff aug work and what not. Take the money and make a move after a year or so if possible.
Depends on your career goals. ACC would give better exit opportunities but 50% is a hefty hike.
Do it
You are good then. These companies include TCS, HCL...are in immense pressure to reduce H1 staff & have citizens/GC, that’s the reason for fat comp. I would take the risk for now, but remember when rules ease you might be on the top of list of being fired. Companies love revenue more than employees. So be ready to make a switch anytime even with a lower comp. Take the risk, be greedy for a while & ask for more because it’s just supply/demand.
Not sure if you know but the work culture in these companies are more political but when you get fat salary who cares.
Take it and leave after a year. That’s probably one of the worst firms you can work for.
Maybe try other companies? There is a good chance you'll get the same bump elsewhere with better culture.
Just to add more context - the work and level is pretty much alike at both companies

Thanks D2 that’s the kind of points of comparison I was looking for. I will check those.

Exactly! Take the pay increase. I’ve worked with folks at Infosys, they seemed happy with the culture, benefits..
@A1 Can you elaborate on why it is one of the worst firms to work for?
What A2 said aligns with what I’ve seen and heard. Do your homework about that perceived higher base pay.
