A new analyst has joined our team and we often give them models/ slides but don’t always ask them if they know all of the accounting principles to be able to make minute adjustments to EBITDA or free cash flow. We are a FIG platform, so the knowledge required is relatively unique as well and not as easy to google as corporate transactions. Is there a better way to coach the analyst short of just throwing them in the deep end to figure it out or should we wait for them to ask us for help?

I think you need to put in the time training them so that you won't spend time fixing and redoing their work. Both sides need to be proactive about this person becoming an asset to the team.

Sounds about right. That’s why i said our problems are not easily googled 😆

Teach them as they go. For example before you give them the model, explain to them the changes that need to be done and why that change is necessary. They will slowly learn.

The fact that you’re willing to teach them says a lot about you. Good luck !

I would schedule regular check ins 2x per day and use that as a forcing function for questions. Juniors are often afraid of looking stupid and asking for help

The result is usually that they don’t know what they don’t know and will make some errors in terms of what items are used to calculate some outputs.

Hello everyone!
What would you choose between P&G, pwC and a small consulting firm for a data science internship. The three positions are based in Paris and in data science, I have to take a decision this week and I'm completely lost :/
I don't have any clear idea about what I would like to do after (sometimes I think about a phd but others I prefer consulting...)
Thank you so much for your help

Reposting from HR bowl: I’ve heard there is a hiring boom, especially for L&D roles. I was let go recently from a toxic environment (removed the company from everything) after only 4 days of work. I’m actively job searching but not receiving ideal hits. I see a lot of senior level L&D roles but not as many for specialist roles, specifically in tech. I have 5.5 years of experience. Any advice for me? I’m also seeking therapy for the trauma & coping, now ready for securing that next role!

Hi Fishes,
How much time will it take for the HRA to get approved by Finance team.
I have submitted the documents nearly a month back and still they are waiting for approval.

PS : Previous company used to approve/reject them by 18th of every month. Not sure whats the process in CTS.

Where did you come from? How has your onboarding experience been?

If 2+ people submit a referral on your behalf at their company for a position you recently applied for, does it make you stand out even more/increase your chances of getting an interview vs. just 1?

Hello fishes, I have joined Capgemini last week but my account is still not active. I have been trying to get the necessary approvals from the HR but nobody is responding. Is it normal that it's been a week and my account is not active yet? Is there anything else that I can do?
