B. I have a job like that right now and it is the best.
Also I’m remote.
unlimited PTO and only person in your department sounds inherently contradictory
Was thinking the same thing. Will B really only be 30 hours if you are the only one?

Take Job A for sure because you are a hardworking fellow.
On a completely unrelated note, let me know what Job B is so I can apply.
Take B and side hustle to make up the $$ difference.
Hobby is only fun because you do things your ways. When it's a job and you're forced to do it in the most efficient way possible, you'll start hating it.

I’ll work 30 hrs a week for $115K if you want the other one
When are you all gonna realize that 50 hours a week isn’t normal? You only find that at public accounting firms or at companies that don’t respect you.
B. Work is a means to live my life. I’d gladly give up $20k to be working less and have more time to focus on family or a hobby or literally anything else
Yeah man, my goals in life aren’t work related.
Well they are kind of, I want to retire early, which is a huge goal, but mainly it’s just to give myself more free time.
15 days?! Yikes.
Pretty standard in industry. Not having to work weekends makes up for a lot.

Depends on your stage in life. If you are young and childless and can make 50 hour weeks work without risking your mental health and personal relationships, go for it.
Unlimited PTO is a trap. You'll feel obligated to take less than if they'd have just offered you 3-5 weeks per year.
I work at GT, I know it's a trap 😂
Personally I'd take B with less work time.
Are you asking me what your career growth goals are? Because that looks like the question. Culture makes a HUGE difference too. Us option B going to make it easy to take advantage of unlimited PTO or will you end up taking less than option A? Personally, I’d like that 115K for 30-35 hrs per week. That’s a lot of time you’d be saving.
It makes it easy, I’m remote, if I want to take off and go to the beach, I just go. (I’m in Miami)
With Job B, every two weeks worked is effectively a 40-hour week off compared to Job A, plus whatever PTO you use.
That's time to enjoy kids, a hobby, napping, whatever.
Time > Money at those salary levels.
This is what I’m thinking. I already save 60% of my income. The additional money really isn’t noticeable to me. (Currently at job B).
20k after tax is nothing compared to your mental health and stress levels A can have on you… just saying
If you are only person in department, sounds like there will ve extra hours they are not telling you. You will have no one to share any of the workload.
Depends where you are in your career but I’d say take job A. Job B sounds cushy, but it’ll get boring fast.
You didn’t mention what you’d be doing in either. Or are they the same role?
Well going back to your OP - do you want a job (option B) or a career (option A)? I think the pay difference is negligible
B. Sounds like that is ideal.
I’m in a similar situation. Currently paid and work like option B (but not the only person) implementing accounting software and a big 4 has given me an offer for > option A. ~30 a week is tough to give up, but I feel that putting in the work now will pay off vs getting too comfortable.
