If your Westlaw subscription includes their "Expert Materials" package, you can use keywords to try to identify experts who have submitted stuff in court before.
My county bar association has listservs and I’ll send out emails asking for referrals or suggestions
I did something like this before. Had to find an expert in interior design to help us write a report. Ended up making 10 different phone calls from Google Searches until I found someone who pointed me in the right connection.
I would reach out to other attorneys within your firm. Also ask if they have any depo transcripts, etc. so you can have a flavor for how expert will present at depo/trial. As a med mal defense attorney, I care much more about how experts will present at trial than just credentials.
Or, reach out to other attorneys in your region who practice in similar area to see if they have recommendations.
What’s the area of expertise? When I was in private practice, I had lots of luck calling public defender’s offices, both state and federal. They have a wealth of institutional, networked knowledge that they’re usually happy to share.

Have you asked the other attorneys in your firm? Done a key word search on the firm data base?
Look up favorable cases and contact the experts they used. You can pull their materials from lexis and westlaw. When you go this route you’ll usually start seeing the usual suspects continue to pop up.
