Third year new to BL on the east coast. On a deal with another mid and two juniors, all of whom are on Pacific Time. Junior I am working with was working on comments sent by partner (also on PT) and sending directly. I didn’t see any emails from the other mid and junior, stayed up until midnight, but wasn’t sure what my role was there. Was this clear cut and did I miss it? FWIW I’ve worked through the night previously for deals so this isn’t new to me; just wasn’t sure of my role on this team.

Do directors/production companies ask you who the creatives are on a project before they decide to bid?

Has anybody had experience "discovering" themselves and how did you do it?

I don't know if this is the ADHD but I've been at my firm for a year and not one day have I woken up with motivation to go above and beyond the bare minimum. I haven't been passionate or interested in any project I've been on. Outside of work, I have a few small hobbies but nothing I'd consider a true passion. Everybody says "just find a job in something you like" but idk if I like anything enough to make it a career!

My boss the general manager is setting me up at work. She is saying all this stuff about me that is not true at all. But when I come into her shift or come into my shift after hers nothing is done for me. A lot of the prep is not done. And she complains about me not doing the prep. Stuff Is still dirty. One day she left the grill on. Etc. There was another manager there training to run another store and she said I basically do a lot of the work while she doesn't do much. So she stood up for me.

Tiger Analytics has started firing their new joineers(freshers) as they don't have adequate projects. I don't know where the freshers will go as they haven't done any project as such.

This is just pathetic from organization. They are just firing people owing to failing a test of certification, for which other company gives 3 trials but they are giving only one try with negative markings

Would you feel comfortable telling HR that your service line’s culture sucks and name the individuals who cause it? Or is a better approach saying it’s the leadership in general creating a negative and toxic culture? How effective are these conversations really? Trying to assess if there’s any point in bringing this up. Obviously HR works for the company and an employee sharing their thoughts on the unsupportive, cold leaders could bite me in the long run.

Male associate here. This week a junior female associate in my team came to me for advice on bullying from a senior female lawyer. Said senior lawyer has a reputation for this (but has always been civil to me). The thing is: this is the 6th time I have been aware of senior women in law bully younger women in the last 5 years (across 3 firms) and it is swept under the carpet because said senior women are top billers and firms are keen to promote “top women”. How do you respond when straight white men and women attorneys make comments about how you do too much "non-billable" DEI work?

For Nov 2022 I am on track to bill 170 hours after today, with an additional 100 non-billable, which includes a bunch of various DEI commitments. Advice regarding following up multiple times with lead partner about a position in his practice group? I have been in contact with the firms recruiting director as well as 4 of the firms partners. The lead partner and I were supposed to connect a few weeks back but we were never able to. My issue is that I've already essentially followed up twice.
