The question I have is why you left the previous employer the first time? Did you like working there but left because you were feeling stagnant? Or did you leave because it was stressful and/or toxic and unhealthy in other ways? If you left because it was time for a change/it was for growth but liked the people and the company… I’d consider going back plus you’d be getting a hefty bump that doesn’t require any vesting period.
In the end, not everything is about money when it comes to a career/job choice. There’s a lot of grey areas that should be considered before making a decision and the beautiful thing about this one is you know what it’s like working at the previous employer whereas many times we accept positions based on the word of the potential employer in terms of what it’s like working there and then step foot into entirely different circumstances.
Sounds like you know what choice to make then. Excited for you to get the opportunities you deserve at this stage in your career and go back to an environment that was a positive one. :)
If you have half of it vested, and you’ll have better experience at the next gig. I would say jump. Half vested is not bad. Especially if you already know what the experience is like working with your previous employer.
I think finding the happy medium between satisfaction at work + comp is where you’re at. Think of what matter to you!
Id say take the 40% and get the shares there.
I justify it with diversifying my portfolio.
Plus 40% raise is needed in these wild times
Should I stay and see out the remaining shares? What should I come back with to negotiate for the senior role? I always get awkward on negotiating and feel bad asking for more.
