It depends on the contract. There is usually a specified period of time that the person needs to stay at a job for a recruiter to get paid, it might be 90 days. It can’t hurt to reach out.

The recruiter is going to want you to stay where you are—at least until they get paid. It might be 90 days, it might be six months. But even at that point, their contract with the agency probably prohibits poaching. So, you might have to leave on your own, first. It can’t do any harm to ask about the new listing. But realize that they might not be able to be encouraging. It would benefit you to make sure the recruiter gets paid before you bolt; that way they know it’ll be worth placing you again.
