Evaluating an offer from EY. I would be joining at Senior 1 level in their Workforce Advisory practice (specifically, learning team). I have 3.5 YOE in Deloitte in the same practice (offshore USI team in India).
They are offering $70k CAD. I have an MBA and live in Toronto. I feel this offer is very much on the lower end - even despite the upcoming recession etc.
How much should I realistically ask for? Tips to negotiate?

Any other males get really sensitive nipples (especially the left) when the adderall wears off? 😂 I wish I were joking, but it genuinely is irritating enough that I have to not wear a shirt / take week-long+ breaks once it reaches a certain point.
My sister just shared this with me and it’s super helpful for negotiating pay. Just joined this bowl so don’t know if is already been posted so forgive me if that’s the case.

The other side just served well over 300 RFAs on us, covering basically every conceivable fact in the (large) case. Federal court, no local rule limits. Even putting together objections will take many, many hours, not to mention chasing down answers to everything. Depositions are just getting started. How would you navigate this? Kick the can down the road?
Best / easiest way to transfer money from India to US? I transferred it a few years ago to buy property which I am selling now. And need to transfer back

My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??

What does small firm (10-15ish attorneys) business & commercial litigation pay look like for associates in the Midwest? Currently in AmLaw insurance defense and looking to get out.
Character and fitness issue. I took and passed the bar a year ago but I did not go through admission. My Ube score can be transferred anywhere but I'm a little anxious about character and fitness.
I've had some cards charged off and I was late on paying my taxes this year. The reason I was late for pay my taxes because my dog was ill and I did everything I could to save his life. I understand that I didn't do the correct thing from a financial perspective.

I could finish my brief now and sleep peacefully tonight, or wake up at 5AM to finish it in a hurry. Guess which one I’ll choose…
First year associate: not sure if I’m doing lawyer work or paralegal work...about 1.5 months in
ID attorneys: how much do you usually bill for summary judgment motions, opp, and reply? And how do you break it down, if at all? I’m just curious because I feel like it takes me longer than it should..
Hey everyone, I have a little bit of a Ontario Employment Law question. I recently signed an employment contract to work in a company that is not related in Law whatsoever (still probation). There is a possibility I might land a job at a Law Firm here in Ontario. While I understand that it is a bad practice to leave a place of work as a new hire, I do wish to work for this Law Firm as it is within my area of preference. Would I be within the wrong to tender an effective immediate resignation?
Random question: has anyone tried at-home fitness alternatives to Peloton (e.g. CLMBR, Ergatta Rower, etc.) and care to share their experience?
Asking for a friend. He signed a lease in Maryland but hasnt yet moved in. now the landlord is saying he wants to terminate the lease and just stick with the existing tenant going forward. Is my friend outta luck and has to start looking for a new place? What can he do in this situation? Any and all insights appreciated!
There's a misconception among attroneys that I never understood. To a point hard work will bring success but if you can't bring in business then you have nothing to work hard on. You eventually have to kill your own food. Why do people not understand this.
I currently make $160k as an immigration associate with no billables but a not so great boss. I can honestly sort of skate by unnoticed for the most part. Is it worth it to jump ship for $182.5k with an 1850 billable requirement and possibly a less cushy/more direct responsibility role
Happy Thursday everyone! I know that as a profession and especially during this unprecedented time we constantly experience and are bombarded with negativity. Including the negativity in our lives away from work, which we see every time we get on social media platforms, or watch the news etc... therefore I thought we could put some positivity out there today and share some positive experiences that have been a result of this wfh/quarantine/pandemic.
Just lateraled and looks like I’ll be taking on a sizeable privacy practice from an associate who left recently. Any benefit to CIPP and CIPM training/certification as a lawyer? In DC if that matters.
Solos - what’s your retainer and hourly fee? And if you care to add your practice area and general location
I want to hear about your “lawyer heroes” - the attorneys you look up to, that made you want to practice law. They can be factual or fictional, historic or contemporary.
Who are the best US law firms in London? I realise this is a general question but, all things considered in terms of establishment in the market, competitors to MC etc
I'm in big law, but I've always been fascinated by mono e mono litigation. A friend from undergrad who ended up going to law school told me about a case he recently had in which he could get the plaintiff the backoff.
The matter involved a substantial amount of money that was lent for the purchase of a car outright. My friend's client was in his mid-twenties, and it was his uncle who lent him money. He leveraged his client potentially declaring bankruptcy to get a settlement.
