Evaluating an offer from EY. I would be joining at Senior 1 level in their Workforce Advisory practice (specifically, learning team). I have 3.5 YOE in Deloitte in the same practice (offshore USI team in India).
They are offering $70k CAD. I have an MBA and live in Toronto. I feel this offer is very much on the lower end - even despite the upcoming recession etc.

The other side just served well over 300 RFAs on us, covering basically every conceivable fact in the (large) case. Federal court, no local rule limits. Even putting together objections will take many, many hours, not to mention chasing down answers to everything. Depositions are just getting started. How would you navigate this? My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. There is a possibility I might land a job at a Law Firm here in Ontario. While I understand that it is a bad practice to leave a place of work as a new hire, I do wish to work for this Law Firm as it is within my area of preference. There's a misconception among attroneys that I never understood. To a point hard work will bring success but if you can't bring in business then you have nothing to work hard on. You eventually have to kill your own food. Why do people not understand this.

I'm in big law, but I've always been fascinated by mono e mono litigation. A friend from undergrad who ended up going to law school told me about a case he recently had in which he could get the plaintiff the backoff.

The matter involved a substantial amount of money that was lent for the purchase of a car outright. My friend's client was in his mid-twenties, and it was his uncle who lent him money. He leveraged his client potentially declaring bankruptcy to get a settlement.
