From my experience, it’s bad practice to go outside the initially discussed range. Then again, if you made a mistake, it’s too important to pass the discussion.

Thanks for the reply, I didn’t firmly agree to it but mentioned it’s within range. I’m hoping to use the fact that I learned about the roles and responsibilities during interviews to negotiate, a minimum of 120 worst case!

What’s the industry for the role ?

VC (venture capital)

I actually had a very similar phone call not to long ago with a recruiter for a VC based role, does the company name happen to start with a C lol ?

Good luck and congrats on the interest, hoping it works out for you!

I’m not currently looking for a change (I left for industry in 2020 and really like my job). When recruiters message me on LinkedIn I reply to them because you never know when I’ll be open in the future and I don’t want to burn bridges. This one recruiter messaged me about 6 weeks ago for an assistant controller position and I replied back saying I’m currently happy with my job and am a VP of Accounting so wouldn’t be interested in an assistant controller role. Imposter Syndrome - help! I just got the best job offer of my life for a client side position. I’m talking a $30k raise. But it is a LOT more responsibility and I can’t help but feel insane imposter syndrome. They are putting a lot of faith in me for this role and it’s a brand new position internally so there is a lot of pressure to do well. It has me questioning all my qualifications… I recognize there are things I can bring to the table but there is a lot I have to learn in this role.

Newly promoted experienced hire SC making $113k, 10 YOE (switched industries). Got an offer from TCS in an Advisory practice (not the tech sweatshop stuff that I keep seeing people mention). Base salary is $190k and in TCS equivalent of a M role. Downside to taking the salary hike and boomeranging back to D in ~2 years? FYI - I have 2 kids, so that kind of pay raise is kind of a big deal.

The US bowls seem to be reporting large retention bonuses, so was wondering if UK is similar
