A typical young-worker investment portfolio. Like if you're somewhere in this ballpark 😂🤣.

-30-50% in retirement accounts, mostly index funds
-20-30% in side brokerage, individual stock picks, mostly EV, tech, alternative energy
-10-20% in side hustle or non-traditional market like watches, shoes, etc
-0-5% in yolo retail vs hedge fund plays

I have a mortgage that I would like to pay off ASAP ($250k @ 6% interest). My lender allows me to recast the mortgage if I am at least $5k ahead in my principal payments. I am about $10k ahead now. The mortgage recast fee is $250. If I recast now and continue paying the same amount, am I correct that it will help me pay off the loan faster than if I just keep making the same payments?

Respectfully, if you don't know the difference between a recast and a refi please don't respond 😅

Did the "write an idea down that would get you fired" brainstorm w/ a big pharma client. You know, then exchange with others & turn into a positive. Went well, laughs plus a few solid campaign ideas.

What is a good interview answer for leaving a job after a few months when the real reason is that you’re sleeping with one eye open in hopes of not being on the chopping block after two rounds of massive layoffs? Company culture is at an all-time low, and it will only go down from here from what I’ve seen in the short months I’ve been there.

I anticipate getting a low interest 24 month loan (hoping 0%) next year of about 15k.

I am currently living "paycheck to paycheck" (after maxing retirement accounts). But I have cash savings from inheritance in a HYSA: 15k emergency fund + 20k excess cash.

I can afford to pay the loan in full immediately, but assuming low rate, I don't plan to. What's the best strategy here? I can't just invest my 20k excess cash because I live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford the minimum payments (cont)

529 plans question - what are the general thoughts on the age-based funds that do investment allocations for you vs. other options? They seem to be similar to target date funds in a 401k but not sure if there are any drawbacks I should be thinking about

A beginner to 401k and Roth IRA plans.. Whats the difference between the two? If I have 401k accts, should I also open a roth IRA? Also have couple of retirement plans from previous employers’ providers. Is it a good idea to roll all of them into current employer’s plan vs keeping them all separate?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot and want to hear others’ thoughts. 24 here and making 100k. Living at home in the south right now but really want to move back to NYC because I don’t have a social life at home/want to start dating. I’m not really happy here and feel it starting to affect my work. But also really enjoy saving money and want to own a place some day. Currently have 30k saved and 40k in investments/401k. Will it be dumb for me to move?

New idea: investing platform that lets you make a note when you buy stocks/ index funds. And then tracks the growth of those stocks separately. (I.e. I have like 200 shares of something. But I bought 10 of those shares when I switched firms. And 10 of those shares with my 2022 bonus. I want to be able to note the occasion that I bought shares and then easily track the growth of those individual shares. As a scrapbook of my experiences. Rather than buying jewelry for sentimentality.

Just realized I can’t contribute to a Roth since my income is too high (I think). TC ~190k and wife makes around 90k. I’ve only been contributing for a few months now at the advice from a CFP friend (he never asked me what I made). Should I go back to 401k contributions or is there a better option here? I expect my retirement income (via pension) to be higher than my HHI now.
