How many of you don't have an apartment and just alt travel or stay in your client city every weekend? Specifically any EY folks who do this? Wondering how easy it is to live like this on our policies
If only I could say this to my current project team
No one acknowledged my new stapler in the office so far. I'd like a new project please.
How have you all been setting boundaries from work? I've been working 10-12 hour days now since March and I'm just really struggling. And the rest is not because I do not get my work done. My client right now stretches between NY to AZ and Asia hours. So I start at 8:30/9am and do not get off the phone until 10pm, sometimes 11pm.
Is it wrong to be happy that a deal fell through? I know it sucks for the client and other parties involved but my schedule just opened up.
What do you do with male consultants continuously trying to claim your space on your project? I feel just because I’m a young female manager that by definition I get less appreciated!
PM 🐠, is there value-add in bringing on a ‘freelance’ or ‘project’ based Associate Product Manager (mostly at a startup or nonprofit)? I’m currently in a strategy role, but looking to gain tangible PM experience by essentially working for free as an APM. What are some reasons such orgs would be open to bringing me on vs not?
My little life hack for when I have to interview with the client to lead the next project, but I've only had 3h of sleep.
The Senior reporting into me has clearly been taking advantage of being semi on the bench even though we are working on a small project. It's 10 a.m. on the East Coast. Wake up, John Doe!!
Anyone ever been on a project so dysfunctional + toxic that they've requested to roll off? How did that go? Asking for a friend lol.
I switched from audit to consulting, and I thought I’d enjoy my job since I’m no longer ticking the box.. doing something that’s more challenging (what people said lol) .. helping the client etc etc but honestly the job seems pretty much the same. I still work on meaningless BS stuff. Is it because I’m not in ‘real’ (strategy) consulting? I do process improvement / CFO advisory. Or are all corporate jobs pretty much the same other than the pay / wlb (which is def. better)
Any tips for navigating client office politics? I’m working on a process improvement project involving multiple teams and one team feels threatened that my client team is taking work from them (and that their jobs will be in jeopardy as a consequence), and they are slowing down progress which prevents me from doing my job. Client execs are aware but have their hands tied. What’s the best way around this?
How do promos work if you are working on another practices project? Is it less favorable ?
Need points help: current Delta gold, only 7000 MQMs from plat for 2017 but current project ends soon and expecting to fly Star Alliance. Should I stop before hitting plat to carry MQMs for 2018?
Let’s pretend we’re holding companies. I’ll start: No, we can’t hire an extra writer even though you’re clocking 70+ hours a week. BTW, our contract with your client caps billable hours per employee because they know we don’t pay overtime. Here’s a non-billable code you should start using for the rest of the year.
Just gonna vent here bc I can’t do this on normal social media but it infuriates me how people just blatantly ignore requests to RSVP to events. I sent an initial invite for our client holiday..cont
My client is looking to hire a freelance web designer and a graphic designer for a passion project. Web designer needed to develop a simple blog site. Graphic designer needed to develop a few custom images that look like paintings. If interested send me a message as soon as possible. Thanks!
What pair of black dress shoes would you recommend for daily wear at the client site? (Typically just wear a button down and slacks with the occasional blazer)
Looking for guidance on resume for an AP level position (strategy consulting). Presuming you want to highlight core skills through project examples but still keep this to 1 page?
Hello everyone, I have an interview at docusign with a solutions engineer for technical consultant role. Does anyone have any experience, tips or insights on how to prep for the interview? Thanks in advance
Anyone familiar with American Cybersystems Inc. (ACS)? Acsicorp.com is the site. Interested to hear any Data points....They reached out to me but I've never heard of them.
How do you define work-life balance? And how much of that balance is reasonable to expect for someone with ~2 YOE, be that in the Big 4 or in smaller niche/boutique firms?
Folks. Reaching out in desperation here. I have a family who are US citizens stuck outside of HKIA right now along side another family member who is a SIV holder with his family. Does anyone have contacts on the ground that can help get them out? I will add they have a baby and a disabled child with them.
If I have a valid H1B stamp and am carrying my I-797 with me, do I need any other documents to enter the US back from India?
BCG fish, how is the healthcare team segmented? Based off of type of projects (strategy, implementation, clinical, M&A, etc) or is it based off of geography? Are projects sourced nationally or more regionally based on partner? How’s the Dallas office? Boston Consulting Group
Just found out I’m shortlisted at Cannes is 2 categories. If we win, can I use that as leverage at my current company for a raise or promotion?(Cont)
When do you get to negotiate your start date with a big four accounting firm? Currently in the interview process with 3 firms. Is it usually stated within the contract after you get the offer or will I have options to pick from?
Hello Fishes, QBurst is hiring Data Science professionals with 3-6 years experience. Desirable skills include Deep Learning, TensorFlow/Pytorch, ScikitLearn and NLP. Location is flexible, pay is competitive and wlb is awesome. DM me for referral. Happy to help out fellow techies.
Back in the day, I did my own PR, sales & marketing for whatever business idea I was running with at the time. What’s a good remote sales opportunity I can do anywhere in the world that won’t be painful or too high touch? Where I can use my social & business skills (markets, law, cloud, publishing, media, logistics, algos, social media, books, ebooks, design, podcasting, marketing, press release writing, voiceover, journalism) to earn a few extra shillings?
Partners & Principals, If you have offers from couple of big-4 (Deloitte, PWC, EY and KPMG) & also mid tier such as RSM /Grant Thornton etc. What is your advice? It appears the starting salary/draw is a bit varied even with in the big-4 but it is my understanding overtime (3-5 years), most of them average out dont know about mid tear. is midtier better as they less overhead and more marketshare to grow? or even within big-4 is there one firm much better than the other comp & retirement wise
Anyone with US Trust as a PCA? Looking for additional details in terms of the culture, day to day type of things and how you’re doing there vs. what the recruiter stated was the average?
Hello Childfree Friends! Question (slightly grim but I intend for it to be lighthearted)— what do people without kids plan on doing with their estate/ wealth once you’re sniffing the daisies? People always talk about how they’re “working to leave something for the kids” and unfortunately I don’t think my fur baby legally counts. It’s been something on my mind lately & I’d love to hear what others who are child-free are planning. There’s obviously spouse, parents, siblings, but what else?
New EY expense policy just owned, no more Amex Plat reimbursement and mobile capped at $60 for all? WTF uncle Ernie.
Are you required to come into your building? I'm teaching vitrtually, but 2 days a week I'm required to come into my classroom.
