Hello! Any advice on completing the Pymetrics test from BCG? I’ve applied for experienced consulting positions in the US, and want to make sure I pass it. What is the consulting culture in BCG like? For example are consultants expected to be more independent decisive thinkers or more collaborative decision making? Any advice much appreciated! Boston Consulting Group

From my experience yes, I’ve used my accounting knowledge on most of my projects. I’ve also worked on other projects that involved more qualitative analysis but for the most part, accounting knowledge. We do have utilization targets but all practices do, just part of being in client service. What do you mean by staffing? what are your staffing pain points?
This is a common response to public accounting culture—reflective of why so many newcomers leave in ~2 YOE. Industry or consulting can be better. But, you need to figure what you want in your next role before just leaving public accounting. Depending on what you want from your next role and what that role is, there are different best times to leave. Eg If you want to be a senior accountant or internal audit, leave at about the time you’re senioring engagements (best incremental pay bump). If you want to be a technical accountant expert, switch to an accounting advisory group first. If you want to try something outside accounting, switch ASAP or go get a target school mba. If you want to be a controller, make it until at least manager. If you want to be a low level financial analyst (eg treasury or FP&A), leave ASAP. If you want to get into consulting, nail those performance reviews while trying to transfer internally
