That is the problem. In the absence of competent national leadership, we are left with no tools or support other than hoping that local leaders can and will make safe decisions. In my district, for weeks we have been coming in over the trigger thresholds of the top three most-sited metrics used to assess COVID spread. Nonetheless, our board has us back F2F five days a week. So much for the sufficiency of local decisions.

yeah, until a teacher who has been exposed gets just one child sick. I know we are important, but we aren't trained healthcare workers and there are alternatives.... I don't get it

How about “if we are exposed to COVID and we get one of our darlings sick— who pays our lawsuit from the parents, which could become a class action suit if push came to shove!”

In the article it states, "A spokesperson for Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said his administration is evaluating whether it wants to incorporate the federal guidance into Georgia's legal framework, which could spur more districts to act." If it goes into Georgia's legal framework individual districts may not have a choice to opt out so saying that it's the district's decision may not be the case! So I go by what I said which is I can't believe that Trump is doing this and I feel horrible for all my colleagues who have no control over their districts choices or states choices to endorse this!

And non-teachers can go shut their mouths and get their noses out my business, thank you very much, people in this article. I will listen to my doctor and my conscience, and you will do well to stay in your lane, US Department of *all of them*. Or you are very welcome to take my classroom keys and start teaching my class and doing my job yourself. No, you don't want to do that? Then go sit down and stop trying to make it seem like you're doing something when we all know you're just sitting there collecting your check. Bye

I'm interviewing for a project manager position at a place that provides support for a prominent Bay Area tech company. I was approached by a recruiter from Planet Technology. The role is a 6 month contract, with the possibility of extension. What's the minimum hourly wage I'd need to make in order to live comfortably and afford health insurance in San Jose? I'm 30 years old w/out kids. My husband is currently unemployed so this is assuming that I'm supporting us both. Appreciate any advice!

Slightly confused. ~90K Votes remain according to Fox at 98% reporting, but Hancock County is the only one I can find that doesn't have 100% reporting and is 80% with about 3500 total votes. So what are the sources of the remaining 85k votes? Seems high if its just military / overseas ballots that have yet to be counted and if its absentee/mail in voting, wouldn't those be applied to a specific county?

With social security potentially running out, why couldn’t it be an option for the govt to put $5k for every baby that is born in a year into an account Invested in a govt share class S&P 500 fund. Historical average is 10%+, which would provide roughly $2.7 million for a baby born today. Eventually, this would eliminate the need for soc sec tax, and would only cost $18 Billion a year instead of several trillion a year being deposited into the trust.
