About sixth months post partum and I am so unbelievably tired all the time. Baby sleeps through the night yet somehow I am exhausted to the point of lying in bed all weekend while...

But to be fair: being a new parent is freaking exhausting and I’m going to guess you have a demanding job - so it might also be “normal”

So true. Also find out what rejuvenates you and take me time. Maybe a nap on weekend or maybe that isn’t energizing you like seeing a friend for coffee or yoga or reading a book would. I know it’s hard to get over the hump so sometimes seeing a therapist or taking meds can help. It helped for me

Yes agree with everyone - hormones (TSH, free T4), hemoglobin and iron, vitamin D, b12, glucose/A1C. Also maybe attempt to do a massage or other relaxing activity that gets you out or your bed but still restful! Lastly, I didn't have any deficiencies but felt a lot more energetic after 8months post partum

like

While my husband watches the baby. I don’t think I am sad, but could such extreme exhaustion be some form of PPD? Should I see my doctor? If so, OB or more of a general practioner?

like

I would check the hormones levels - it could be that they are not back to normal yet. Ask your general practitioner to run some tests: hormones, iron, etc.

like

Vitamin D. The baby sucks it out of you when pregnant, and deficiency leads to exhaustion. Google it.

like

I was vitamin D deficient about 6 months post partum ... I’d call your pcp and get levels checked. Also get your thyroid checked too

Could also maybe be iron deficiency or hemoglobin

I feel like my kids 1st grade teacher is being too strict, but I'm not sure if this is normal or I'm being sensitive because it's my child. E.g. she gave him 2/10 for his math homework because he doodled on the page, colored in the circle that has the page number, didn't draw the word problem neatly, wrote his last name under the name line, and says some of his numbers aren't legible. All his answers were correct, except one where he forgot to fill in the blank. Is this normal? X-posting

Anyone ever had trouble with a doctor not wanting to certify a family member’s condition, in order to take a leave of absence? My brother attempted suicide via drug OD (he was addicted) and he’s been hospitalized for over a week with seizures, psychosis, peeing blood, etc. We have visited him every day, driving 100+ miles round trip. The doctor is giving my father and me grief, saying (quote) “you aren’t providing care, the hospital is” and “there’s no reason you can’t go back to work.”

We're expecting our second in April and know we want to find a nanny sometime between now and June. Mom's with 2, when would you recommend bringing a nanny on board? Before the new baby comes or towards the end of my maternity leave? Our older daughter will be just shy of 2 when the new baby comes, so she's still a handful. Right now her grandparents cover about 75% of care during work hours and my husband and I make the rest work between the 2 of us.

How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. I tell my boss up front that, for family reasons, I’ve gotten a new job and will be moving to another city two weeks after trial will likely end. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

Hope to learn more if you bought an apt in Manhattan, or if you decided against it (renting/moving to upstate/Long Island/Jersey). My husband and I are considering to have a baby soon and are thinking of buying and living in Manhattan for the next 10 years or so (looking at property under $2M). Please share what you considered as you were making the decision - I hate throwing away rent but also don’t want to trap ourselves in significant financial obligations. Thanks!

Anyone dealt with your sibling getting divorced and the SIL fallout? My brother is going though a divorce and it is ugly. She is saying he is “unfit” (he is not). He has a 32 yr old who I am very close to, and a 12 yr old who is my goddaughter. His ex was my bff and now she says he is an unfit father and trying to take away his parental rights. I am stunned. It has fractured us beyond what I thought possible. Do I stay neutral for the nieces? Do I shout at the top of my lungs he is a good guy?

Does anyone know Navigant’s parental leave policy?

Our nanny takes my 7 month old out for one, sometimes 2, long walks every day (weather permitting). Love the idea of fresh air every day but its often for several hours at a time and he always returns home crying bc she's pushed him to his limit between feedings. She brushes it off saying hes just fussy which kind of irks me. Im also concerned that he's spending too much time strapped in a stroller. Is it reasonable to ask her to take shorter walks? Am I overreacting?

When leading a team through a reasonably large process change (e.g. changing from non existent to… something), is it a better idea to adopt a Big Bang approach (huge change, but all at once) or through smaller iterative changes (over many months)? What are the pros / cons of either approach? And any suggestions for dimensions to keep in mind when deciding?

I’ve been promised a promotion. The discussion started many months ago before Covid. When the pandemic hit, I stepped up & worked insanely hard, above my level—it’s been praised and recognized, but not rewarded. I was told the promotion will be delayed for reasons not to do with me. Am I going to get strung along? Should I start looking? Can I ask for more money when it does come? I believe I deserve a lot more money, but I’m afraid of sounding greedy or entitled, especially during a pandemic.

Do folks in business/strategy consulting at large firms use firm-approved project management systems, like asana or monday? When I worked at a small boutique firm, folks were obsessed with pristine project management systems and plans and charts and matrices.
