Hello Sharks, Need a suggestion. Had a verbal communication on profile and salary post selection (12th August) still haven’t received the offer letter. Getting updates that they are waiting for global team approval which is stuck due market conditions i believe. My LwD is arriving should I take Whatever offer i have which is comparatively less or ask company to retain as MS are not certain with when they can roll the offer out. Microsoft

Regarding cost it depends on insurance and type of delivery. Obviously high intervention is more expensive. I had my second baby in June. No epidural or any intervention. Only spent one night in the hospital (due to Covid I wanted out). There are also costs specific to the baby... lots of testing, etc. All in it was about $3k out of pocket.
That sounds about the similar amount that my insurance told me.

Congrats! Read through your insurance plan then call up your insurance company and ask them. I know my plan has a section on pregnancy which makes it easier to think about the big things. You can also do a quick Google search to make sure your covering all of the different areas of coverage. For example, pre-natal vitamins, check ups, actual delivery, post-delivery support, etc. I don't have kids, so don't read that as an actual list lol.
Haha thank you! I guess I’ll have to dig into the details now

Congratulations 🎊 I'm expecting and our due date is end of March. I'm hoping to tell my project leadership and the team around the 20 week mark. With the wfh, I could keep it a secret for longer - maybe up to the 25 week mark since that'll be the holidays anyway.
As for costs, I've been looking up estimates online. I just found out that my ob gyn clinic has a benefits coordinator. They're going to contact my insurance and then walk me through what each prenatal appointment, ultrasound scan and actual delivery would cost and give detailed estimates. We have that appointment right after our 12 week scan. Maybe your doctor also has something like that?

I'm with united Healthcare high deductible plan so I've paid $300 for two pre natal visits including one ultrasound. I also paid $199 out of pocket for the nipt test that wasn't covered by my insurance and the amount doesn't go towards my deductible either. Let's see what additional insights the benefits coordinator is able to provide.
Congratulations! I’m sure it depends, but I am on Cigna Open Access Plus and the sum total of my co-pay was $100. This includes delivery, post partum check ups etc.

This is very specific to MBB. If OP is not in MBB her costs will be significantly higher. The difference between my health insurance at PwC and my spouse's insurance at MBB is astronomical

Having my first at the end of January. All my prenatal visits and tests are free. I have BCBS PPO. Since January will be a new deductible, I’ll have to hit it, $2k for labor and delivery, and that will be all I’ll have to pay.
If I had the baby this year and had already hit the $2k deductible, the birth would be free.
But similarly, next year, any other medical appointments (unrelated or related) will be free to cheap bc or hitting the deductible early.
Depends on your insurance coverage. Unless you have amazing coverage, I would expect to pay at least the amount your deductible that year. Worst case scenario would be the out of pocket max. Choose the fancy insurance for next year.
Remember, if it is "covered" by insurance that does not always mean it is paid for, depending on the plan you may need to hit your deductible before things are paid for. Aka, out of network doctors may not be covered under your plan at the in-network rates.
