I’m newer to EY, but have had a great experience thus far. I knew a SM prior to joining so have been staffed since day 1 and knowing that SM has also helped with building my network. What practice are you joining?
Accenture diversity has made leaps and bounds since I started 7 yrs ago. Many EY folks that have done both mention that ours is a bit better.
Was in PI and hated it. May have been a New York thing, but the politics was pervasive and didn’t work to "our” advantage. Don’t want to sound Kool-aide addicted, but the KPMG experience has been much better. More collegial and less political. Your results may vary, but I’d never go back.
EY is a great firm has its flaws like any other. Network is king. Make the effort. Get seen by leading key internal initiatives and delegate. Make an effort to be social, it matters. Stay utilized. The culture is less direct than Delotitte.
Just left KPMG and filed an EEOC complaint. They still run a good ole boy network in disguise when it comes down to it. Would not recommend to anyone. Different group than K1, but the people that I know are leaving in droves.
Yeah I would say diversity is an issue more so here than accenture. Good place to work. But build your network and brand fast. There's more emphasis here on bd and pd than at accenture for all levels takes some getting used to. Took me a while to get used to it. Technology sucks very backwards considering we provide guidance to clients. What level are you coming in at? Overall though not a reality bad company would I go back to Accenture probably.
Congrats and yes what service line and practice?
I'm joining the PAS practice in advisory @SC1. If you could help put in contact with people that would be great! @EY1 I'm assuming you mean racial diversity... Is ACN really that much better? I would be coming in as a staff.
The cultural clicks are real. Sad thing is that we don't have a click. But if you have a good crop of support you will be good. But be aware that if you F up people find out fast. At accenture a bad project or two won't necessarily destroy your reputation. Spoke to a male colleague of mine 3rd type of conversation that happened in a span of months where one of was labeled an aggressive or an angry black female for speaking up.
@EY1 you mean performance wise f'ing up or "cultural wise". What at EY makes you think the culture is like this?
Performance. Seen and heard first hand. But they are trying but a ways to go. Still glad I made the jump and would do it again. Especially define I'm helping with the changes.
KPMG 1 what practice were you in? I’m interested in switching from Risk and trying to navigate my way. Would love to hear more about. Your experience
Management Consulting. Customer and Operations. Financial Services. Love the place.
What group is that, E4? Curious to know.
FM (Financial Management). Glad to hear that it’s not as bad in other parts of the firm.
I’m getting an offer from EY next week and am being courted by KPMG!
EY2 what do you mean by “less direct” than Deloitte?
