Start applying to as many positions as you can after the bar. I hate to say this, but it’s almost a numbers game. But keep in mind, you only need one “yes” so don’t get discouraged! Good luck on the bar and the job hunt!

Additional tip: try to seek reciprocity with a NY law school. There are a lot of job postings on there!

Focus on studying for the bar exam for now. You want to take the test once. After the exam, focus on finding a job. Reach out to recruiters, join the bar association(s) and become active, volunteer, network, send out resumes and follow up etc. Look for the job you want. You will find something. Hope all works out well.

Keep an eye out on what’s posted and once you get results start sending out your resume late April to early May. By the time you get in the door you’ll have the results. Good luck!!

When I started I was on LinkedIn and Indeed regularly and would skim ziprecruiter. I was also looking for a small boutique firm so my experience might not be “standard” depending on what you’re interested in pursuing.

Started a new job in industry a few weeks ago but I’m not liking my team as much. They don’t seem approachable and very cliquey with their own group. Normally when someone starts a new job, I would personally reach out to them to welcome them but haven’t received any welcome since I’ve been here. Do I hold it out or look for a new job?

Our firm is establishing our target billable %'s at a small public accounting firm. Is there a website that gives target billable time % by staff level for the tax and accounting industry? Just started poking around the AICPA website, but would appreciate being able to save some time looking for it. I'm used to a lower % rate than what's being proposed (70% vs 85%) and don't want to cause undue pressure on staff, but do want to give a reasonable billable hours expectation going forward.

Hi sharks,
I had appeared for an interview in juniper networks a couple of weeks ago, two rounds were successful and HR called back. She asked for the expected CTC and i conveyed my expectations. She said she will get back to me after the approval for numbers from senior management. It will take 2-3 days.

That was the last week. I don't have her mail ID, because all incoming mail from juniper are auto mails. But their career portal shows status as "selected for offer" suggestions please.

assigning attorney told me back in February that the partners decided *not* to staff me on a very time-intensive, annual deal this spring (which I worked on in 2021), so I could focus on new work that has come in which I am REALLY interested in. Therefore, I signed on to those new projects. Now, seems like he is trying to walk back on it and staff me on Deal A. I’m unbelievably stressed and idk even what to say to him. Now I’m committed to other stuff/partners and Deal A is SO much work.

I don’t agree nor do I disagree w/abortion. I don’t have children and still don’t know if I want any, but what I do believe is women should have the choice to make a decision that works best for them and their situation. These constant constraints upon women, that seem to change with changing perspectives, be it women in the domestic realm, women in pants or dresses, AA women in our hairstyles)—should not be decisions left to the court. Any advice for an AGC of a medium-sized private company whose GC appears to be increasingly threatened? He is part of the good old boys club and is surprisingly incompetent. I am the only other attorney in the company so until I came on two years ago, no one had the legal understanding to know. He has yelled at me for bringing up legitimate major concerns for liability for the company, constantly takes credit to our CEO for my work and ideas, and lied about what the position entails.

I want to work in corporate, but there are so few women who work in that practice area. All of my assigned mentors are men. I’ve attended the firm’s women’s networking group events, but the women in the group are all litigators. Any ideas on how I can find a good female mentor this summer?
