Start applying to as many positions as you can after the bar. I hate to say this, but it’s almost a numbers game. But keep in mind, you only need one “yes” so don’t get discouraged! Good luck on the bar and the job hunt!
Additional tip: try to seek reciprocity with a NY law school. There are a lot of job postings on there!
Focus on studying for the bar exam for now. You want to take the test once. After the exam, focus on finding a job. Reach out to recruiters, join the bar association(s) and become active, volunteer, network, send out resumes and follow up etc. Look for the job you want. You will find something. Hope all works out well.
Keep an eye out on what’s posted and once you get results start sending out your resume late April to early May. By the time you get in the door you’ll have the results. Good luck!!
When I started I was on LinkedIn and Indeed regularly and would skim ziprecruiter. I was also looking for a small boutique firm so my experience might not be “standard” depending on what you’re interested in pursuing.
Thank you everyone. I truly appreciate the feedback
