I finally got diagnosed with ADD, inattentive type, at 28 years old. I’ve known I had depression and anxiety for years, but the symptoms and treatment never added up. It took WFH in a pandemic to realize maybe I had ADD, and still months of being dismissed and made to feel like I was crazy before I found a doctor to administer the MMPI. I feel validated, finally, but I can’t help feeling grief too over so much lost potential and unnecessary failure, especially in law school and my career.

I don’t think you need to be concerned about any of those things? Or idk maybe you are more sensitive to medication. There’s definitely an adjustment period and you might need to experiment before you find the meds/prescription that works best.
But it’s not like you’re going to be incapacitated or something.
I started at 5 mg because I was nervous, then was on 10 mg IR for a while. I found I was crashing pretty hard and pretty early in the day. That’s how I ended up on 20 mg XR as my primary dosage. That’s over a period of about 3.5 years, so it’s not like I immediately developed a resistance to lower doses or anything.
The Wellbutrin was for depression and was like the 5th antidepressant I tried, but it seems to have helped with the ADHD as well.
Give it a few days. If it feels really wrong, call your doctor because maybe it’s too high of dose or the medicine just doesn’t work for you.
You may feel pretty weird the first day or two, but then you’ll get used to the feeling. When I first started taking Adderall I felt like I was on speed (not that I would know what that feels like haha), but I got a LOT done. If you’re on the instant release Adderall, be mindful of the timing of your doses or you might end up crashing mid-day if your first dose wears off before the second kicks in. I eventually switched to Vyvanse because the Adderall gave me too many side effects, but I tend to be more sensitive to things like that and everyone’s experience is different.
@OP, I got the jittery feeling when my doctor briefly switched me to Vyvanse, but only had the “calm” feeling with Adderall. It’s going to depend on the meds.
