Looking for feedback for a Project Management Platform for SMBs, freelancers and Founders
Hi! A friend recently launched a Project Management software called Heycollab - I think it’s pretty cool and like the UI but I’d love to get more feedback - they’re very passionate about the product and would appreciate the help!

Just start building. Take a prototype in front of the prospective customers as soon as possible. If they like it, you can think about registering and other legal, if not - you can pivot to the next idea without spending too much funds
Stripe is a godsend. You can also look at YouTube’s videos for how to file a trademark, it’s complicated but not impossible
I'd recommend you to hire CPA, discuss the entity form, file the business registration with State Secretary online, open state/federal Tax accounts, discuss the employee paycheck matters with the CPA. Also you need to open business checking with the entity's primary bank.
You'd better consult with a lawyer to register the entity's federal trademark. You wouldn't need to register federal trademark right after you register your business entity. In trademark world, the date of first use is important. Once you uplift your business upon orbit, you can register it. (On the other hand, if it's state trademark, you'd be able to do it without a lawyer.)
I just wanted to provide some information necessary for establishing startups. Let me be clear though I'm not interested at all in founding a startup by myself. Advising startups as outside counsel has been a job which makes me feel rewarding.

I would also recommend the Lean Startup. It will help you think about your ideas as hypotheses, and help you spend the least amount of time / money to disprove (NOT prove) those hypotheses.
Hello ACN, I currently work at an early stage startup for commission and equity. And prior to this I did what you are tying to do on the side.
There are several aspects to your question and legal / corporate and what not are the easier problems to solve. The hard ones are validating your ideas.

I really love the book Getting to Yes. It has taught me to connect and negotiate for myself and my business thoughtfully. One of the best required reading books from my law school. I think it might help you navigate the intricacies of a start up, and building relationships. Congrats on your journey!
I was a Wantrepreneur for six years stuck at Accenture. I left a year ago to help ease the transition from employee to entrepreneur and build MentorPass. There are hundreds of recruiters to help you find a new job, but few to help you become an entrepreneur. This is my story: https://youtu.be/uW4MaNg0fc0
