Has anyone ever asked to renegotiate their salary after starting a job? I’m 2 months into my new job and I have far more responsibilities than what I was told. It’s a lot different than what was relayed in the posting and during the interviews. Additionally, they hired my counter part in as a senior manager which is at least $30k more than what I make. My peer has more experience so I expect that but I feel that I should be paid more, however I don’t want to leave a bad impression… any advice?

If you were offered a role at a company where there was little to no diversity within the group you were interviewing for (not even at the level you were interviewing for, or at senior leadership level) would this be a red flag for you in terms of culture, & potential opportunities? If I get referred for a role at Goldman Sachs, but see two roles that fit me, can I still apply and will the referral carry over to both? Or will that look bad? Or should I apply and wait and see what happens with the first position?

I got an offer that includes base, bonus and equity of 80k each year, fully vested each quarter. I’ve never had equity before, does this mean every quarter they just give me 20k worth of stock I can sell? Or is it a pre determined number of shares that could be less than the 80k I was told. I feel like there’s gotta be a catch here I’m missing and im not just gonna pocket 80k (minus taxes) each year on top of base/bonus

I’ve heard some anecdotal stories about consultants leaving MBB and starting their own consulting LLC catering to PE (either doing diligence or other strategy work) and that it can be quite lucrative. Has anyone in this bowl done it who can share lessons learned, the basic economics, and watch outs?
