Would it be a downgrade to leave a strategy consulting role for a non-strategic industry job? Is corporate strategy the main way to go?

McKinsey 🐠, any intel on the Practice Manager role? I've had a phone screen and been invited to interview, but I know little about the role. Sounds mostly internal, but they can deploy PMs to projects if needed. How is pay and WLB? Is this kind of role suitable for people with top 10 MBAs and client facing consulting experience at a non-MBB firm?

Moving on from news: after 12 years in the industry, I am exploring corporate comms positions in the financial, pharma, and retail industries. My skills range from content creation, emerging technology, streaming, social media, digital marketing, digital strategy, UX and public relations/crisis communications. But I’m having a hard time convincing hiring managers that my “non-traditional” background translates to marketing/comms roles. How do you break into corp world from journalism?

Need some advice, I’m an experienced audit staff looking to transition to FDD or Valuation after busy season. Does it make sense to make the jump at the staff level or should I wait for the senior promotion? Also which one of these two areas would give me a more valuable/transferable skill set?
