Brown mixed-race person here. Grew up in the USA and went to public schools and still alive. The assumptions on this thread are wince-worthy. There are times when people should keep their opinions to themselves if they don’t know what they are talking about (‘I have many brown friends’... WTF?!!!) OP—Sounds like you have already spent time working on both countries, so you know the pros and cons of both. As mentioned above, it all comes down to your skill set if you are looking for an international transfer. Based on your responses here, you should also work on your diplomacy. Not everyone is ready for a lecture. Figure out how your transferring could benefit the company (not just you). No one has context on what you do (role, specialization, etc) so hard to provide more specific recommendations. Also, expect that no one is going to pay you to move abroad—all expenses will be on your own dime if you initiate the transfer

Just to actually reply to your initial question: there are basically 2 options - either get staffed on a project over there (hard to get, but transfer is assured) or request a transfer through PeopleMobility (aka one of Dante’s hell circles I believe). Needless to say that the only way to get approved is to have the support of at least one MD from the country. If you have an expertise that is rare or needed you won’t have an issue getting transferred. Regarding the other comments: fascinating to see these answers. As a European seeing people justifying that the US are worth betting on for the education because “you’re part of the highest income brackets” and “just disregard the stats in the schools that are in poor districts”... so much fun really 🤣🤣

Lol and South Africa is safer and has a brighter future for colored kids?! May be go out of the tourist areas next time you're there. Does Spain's 40%+ unemployment under 30 year olds and a stalled economy and the war rhetoric between Barcelona and the rest of the country make it more attractive? People forget to put things in perspective, a lot

likesmarthelpful

I agree, you should leave the US ASAP.

Don’t embarrass our firm with your fact-less statements OP. Wanna leave? Go for it, but check your facts first before making statements like this.

How many of you here have lived and worked in any of the 2 countries that I mentioned? I’ve lived and worked in those countries for 5yrs at a time. I worked and lived in different areas and communities, and I even met my beautiful wife in South Africa. She’s brown and our experience has been that the USA is one of the worst places to raise kids let alone brown / mixed kids. Families don’t get much help so they are both physically and mentally exhausted don’t spend much time as family because many need to work to meet childcare needs. Childcare is ridiculously expensive, the public education system is one of the worst in the world...I can keep going! Just like any other country the US has it’s issues. Although there’s a lot of crime in SA, schools are one of the safest places for kids and people don’t go on rampage and shooting people up in malls or workplaces! Being back in this country I f*#%n feel like I’m in a war zone and never know if I’ll find myself dead in random mass shooting. Americans live lonely lives with no sense of community , are prescribed to many drugs, overworked and a lot of them function out of fear in these workplaces. So unless you have something meaningful to say keep your snarky comments to yourself and no the US is not that great of a place. Seems like many of you here need to travel outside your US bubble more and lose the we are better than the rest of the world mentality.

This thread is refreshing. Mainstream media had me thinking America is doomed. Glad I’m not the only one who still loves our country 🇺🇸

US schools are safen than they've ever been. Amount of coverage in the media has no correlation with any actual danger https://www.npr.org/2018/03/15/593831564/the-disconnect-between-perceived-danger-in-u-s-schools-and-reality

I’m embarrassed for you by you posting this question. Your kids are safer here in the US than anywhere else especially the Countries you pulled out of your @$$. If you truly feel that your brown kids will be safer outside of US please do us all a favor and leave.

@A2 like I mentioned earlier yes SA has a lot crime but the point in my reply was to respond to some people that want to make it seem like the US is this heaven on earth. To your point it’s all in perspective and my question initially was asking for recommendations on how to get project opportunities but some people ignored that part.
