So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

Still not sure what to put in as my goals but I got a threatening email that I need to enter them in.
Depends on your industry. Consulting and Strategy has done a lot of house cleaning already. I suspect App Services will address via cost cuts versus firing.
Curious to know how the new performance achievement changes laddering process also
If you are in consulting you only have until July 20th to recover feedback on your priorities so be sure to get on that!

Totally depends on the OG/Practice. Strategy already had its culling, but I can see the Staff Aug type of work (DevOps, PMO, etc) getting impacted. We're in/entering a recession - can expect client/prospect finance departments to take the ol' red pen to a lot of "line items".
In the same vein, CapEx work will be reduced at clients expecting to be more bearish in the next year.
The ratings process is not going to be the same as it was... Expect to see more layoffs for sure. They have already brought the hammer down on people on the bench for a short time real quick
I welcome the new process - marginalizing impact from HR, making it more client/portfolio and practice-driven. Assuming you're a solid performer and know how to grow and maintain a sphere of influence, helps with promotion decisions.
