Accenture Strategy is a better name for your resume than a Capital One BA role.

Accenture 100%.

Accenture will teach you skills that could get you into Cap1 (or better) if you so choose in the future. The inverse move may not be as easy.

like

Accenture for sure

You have potential to make more quicker at capital one in a full time role.

Accenture.

As someone who is at Cap1, and has a lot of Cap1 friends who started out through the BA job family in DC…. College hires + BA job family + working in Card = the most prestigious place to be in the company. If you’re smart and a top performer, you can make Director at 5 YOE. that’s a 220k+ TC with maybe a 50 hour work week.

like

(College hires tend to rise far, far faster than external hires. )

like

Accenture. It’ll open more doors. Once you’re in a specific industry (like banking at Cap1), it gets harder to move across to other industries. If you’re in consulting or in broader tech, it’s not as much of an issue. BUT - if you want to go for an MBA and get it mostly covered, Capital One might be the better move if you ALSO plan to get hired there full time after.

like

Accenture any day.

Biased towards Accenture, but definitely Accenture. Still know folks that went to comparable places after (Stripe, MasterCard), bumped up to top 3 consulting, or just skipped to tech. Basically, it’s just a more flexible option so when you recruit for FT next year you’ll have more options. Also, they still pay interns pretty healthily compared to most.

I’m a computer science student graduating this December. I have a 3.9/4 GPA and a decent resume but my biggest weakness was that I had didn’t have a good internship. My question to you all that work in the SWE industry is do you think it would be better for me to take the first offer I get and start working, or hold out and get some certificates and complete more projects and search for a better offer to start off with.

COVID WFH has put me several time zones away from my client (I’m further west and their culture is to start the day early anyway). It’s a new project so I don’t have relationships built up. How much pushback on morning meetings is reasonable? I know the project can’t operate totally around me but these start times aren’t sustainable...

My favorite part about WFH is that I experience significantly less micro aggressions and/or discrimination than when I used to have to go to the office. The downside is that there will probably be less work for employment lawyers. I don’t mind making that sacrifice. It’s harder to have a hostile work environment when you don’t have to be in a work environment 5 days a week (sometimes 6). For context, I’m a POC.

Does your baby drink more milk when away from you? I am WFH and pumping and breastfeeding. Sometimes nanny gives baby the bottle and then baby wants / sees me and nurses after. I pump afterwards but only get like 1 oz (since she drank a full bottle). So basically, baby needed another 4 oz on top of breastfeeding. On the weekend baby drinks from me and doesn’t need more milk. Baby is 10 months. I have a freezer stash but don’t want to reduce supply too much.
