Accepted an offer at a mid-size/boutique and the firm just notified me I’d have to use my own computer and phone but that I’d be given a stipend. Is this normal? Seems kinda weird that I have to use my own computer...

Normal if there’s a stipend. My old firm had a similar program in place for decades before it switched to just providing everyone a laptop owned by the firm.

At a midsize here, we use our own computers (though one can be loaned out if you don’t have one, like some of our secretaries) and we get a stipend.

$250 for equipment at the start of the pandemic, plus $35 each month for our cell phones/internet (which can be adjusted if we show this is insufficient for actual expenses), and discretionary reimbursements for everyday necessities like paper and toner/printer ink.

Hey! Looking to move to the Brand/Client side in 2023.

Interested in any leads for roles in the Brand Mgmt area.

I’d excel in a role that includes some aspect of helping internal teams work with Agencies to produce work that stays aligned to the brand.

Any support would be much appreciated.

Due to a recent company-wide increase and additional pay for bilingual direct reports I am only making a dollar and change above them as their supervisor. I was hired into this position in March, having been the first employee in this department. I really tried to get them to budge on salary, they did not, but shortly after accepting they gave the whole company a dollar raise.

Any suggestions on how this might be addressed?

I have been approached with an opportunity at JP Morgan Chase for their private client advisor role. The book is about 30M all in. I am currently an experienced hybrid asset manager wholesaler and have experience in advising as well. Curious about the opportunity with JPM and if it’s worth it. I currently make about 160k and if JPM would give me a high draw for the first 3 years to build, and if it’s feasible to sustain that 160+ there.

Anyone else just sitting around waiting for the ax to drop? I'm a soon to be 2nd year corporate associate who has seen work completely dry up. My utilization held pretty steady around 50% immediately after shutdown, but August was below 15 billables with no appreciable work in the pipeline. Aside from letting people know I'm available and doing pro-bono/CLE, it's starting to feel like a serious "covidcation" leading to termination.

And to the people who do this... why?

Is it okay that I’ve been a slow junior as we’re hours away from closing? I’m trying to be proactive and available to cross things off the list but I’m SLOW: takes me long enough that they do it themselves (even though this wasn’t an issue earlier in the deal) and even on quick tasks or emails, they respond to it before I can click send. There’s also so much about closing that I don’t understand and I feel like I’m bothering the higher-ups on the team whenever I ask. *end anxiety post*
