I’ve always seen staying at your employer with a counter like getting back with your ex. 9/10 times it isn’t going to work
I see. Your call in that case! Your current employer is offering you more than the new employer + better benefits, not a bad play. Could also move to MM and pivot back to B4 after a year for an even bigger bump
I’d stay. Since you’re switching service lines, I think the age old argument of not excepting a counter offer from your employer holds less ground. Plus you’re already used to the technology and expectations at the current firm, and you can always leave big 4 FDD for MM FDD for more $$ if you want to later on.
I had the exact same situation and stayed at big4. Couldn’t justify going Mm due to exits
What is MM?
Haha, thank you all.
ya why would you not stay in this case. More money and the group you want. Easy decision. Turn down the mm offer now
Yup. You call up. It won’t be the first or last time this happens to them.
Stay and give the new role a chance. You don’t sound unhappy so hopefully it will be the perfect fit and you’ll love it. There are certain benefits that reset if you boomerang. I know someone who recently boomeranged and even though they were previously at the firm for over 5 years some of the years of service benefits have reset. I think that the 401k and the pension may both reset if you boomerang. At least at EY. I would imagine the rest of the big 4 have similar policies.
When is the service line transfer.
I would stay. November 1st is very soon.
Stay at your firm. You can always jump later on once you get experience
Definitely worth staying, can always apply elsewhere in the future. Why learn new firm tech, etc if you don’t have to
