Are you suggesting our whole security apparatus is for show to provide the illusion of safety because people who are paid minimal wage and provided hastily created operating procedures may not be very good at maintain real security? Man stop reading that fake news

BCG1: 👹👹👹👹👹
I boarded a delta flight with the wrong boarding pass.. (hit an old one in Apple wallet by accident). The machine just printed me a seat change notification for the seat I booked with.
United customer service started calling a bunch of people to figure out what the hell happened, called it a "teachable moment" for them and said I didn't have to wait. then I called CWT to book a new flight.
You can go thru security 24 hours prior and after your flight. It's the way the system is built.
What happened next??
However, OP, I don't get how you booked a flight for today with a date of yesterday and how the boarding pass loaded today for a flight yesterday. I call BS 😀
A2- the mobile boarding passes don't show a date, just a time(at least that's how the delta ones are). And while it would not load on the home screen, it would still be accessible via mobile wallet.
Happened to me last week, accidentally changed a flight to the following day instead of a few hrs later. Got through security, went to board and then realized the mobile pass was for the next day.
So if I wanted to get through security , say because I want to meet my wife at the gate to spend time with her, I could buy a refundable ticket for tomorrow and use the boarding pass to go through security today ?
@A4, yes you could but a guy did this for his wife for several months (she would accompany him to the gate then they would cancel) and even though he was GS or 1K and had years of history with united, they cancelled his account and his wife's. So sure, but do it at your own risk 😮
A1- yea it's because the boarding pass is also tied to your account and the computer in the machine identifies the real ticket. However I do think they should ID you when that happens. What stops some random person taking a boarding pass off the ground and using it on another flight you're taking?
Is this a troll post or true? Considering how strict TSA claims to be this concerns me a bit.
^^ "hastily created"....you obviously don't know what you are talking about.
100% true. I went to change my flight time when I checked into my flight on United app and chose a different time, not realizing it was for pm that day (Sunday) rather than Monday am. Didn't realize until I was thru security and was hastily looking for my gate for a flight that took off the night before.
I once boarded the wrong plane with my boarding pass and realized i am on the wrong plane when they announced the destination. The security let me in the plane
A2: try to check in before 4 hours. If they catch you they will ask you to wait. I have faced that many times. And also many times they will allow. There is no rule. It's all on the spot and situation driven. Don't try to act smart!!
