Account, friendly reminder you’re supposed to keep creative not just client happy. Happy creatives = better work = happy client = happy account.

🤔 kinda, but not really. If account keeps client happy, that happy client buys good work, which then should result in happy creatives. They don’t owe us or our happiness shit lol. Be kind to your account people friend, their jobs kinda suck. 🤗

Sorry! I guess I was too busy building a brand, leading my clients to better work, understanding their business to uncover better opportunities for the agency (to win precious awards) while driving profitability (so everyone gets pay raises) without causing burnout and turnover that affects the relationship. I must have overlooked the other part of my job of stroking your creative ego and making you feel important. I’ll try harder next time.

Shut up and finish my banners 😂

Creative, friendly reminder that you are supposed to keep the clients not just your boss happy. Happy clients = bills paid = we all keep our jobs. Also, if you aren’t nice to me, I’m not going to make extra efforts to get you a cool, fun project from the client to work on because you are an ungrateful self-centered brat. We are one team. Act like it

like

There it is

Most importantly, you must keep your producer happy. And by producer I mean me. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

likefunny

Uhhh I mean, I think the actual equivalency would be more like:

Account = happy client
Project Managers = happy creatives

But you know what would be even better?? If you took your own happiness into your own hands and didn’t think there was a whole career dedicated to serving your happiness

In the 1960s (!) our predecessors invented Account Planners to fill this gap. Creatives and strategists were besties over their love of culture and ideas while balancing the Account folks' need to fulfill client demands. Christ Almighty this entire industry has devolved into not even knowing its own character.

like

Not intended to connote that. Tried to characterize the history of bridging the Gap between account and creative with the invention of Planners.

We're not your minions. Try working with us instead of treating us like toe jam. I'm sure there are issues on both sides. Mutual respect and all that...

like

And one more thing ... ALL and I mean ALL of the most successful creatives are not self-centered egomaniacs. Advertising is a team sport. "We are one team. Act like it" is spot on.

Don’t forget about ALL the people making you look good. You know, your deck designers, comp makers, assistants, etc. staying up after you’ve gone to bed to make sure everything is ready for your 9am call. I honestly do not think we’d make it without them and they get so little appreciation and none of the glory.

like

Deck designers? Comp makers? This would be happiness in itself, ha

Pack a lunch everybody...this is going to take a while

I've been noticing a new trend in biglaw passive aggressiveness: Adding a question mark to a non-question when you're following up on something. E.g., "Hi X, just wanted to check in on Y as the client would like to see a draft as soon as possible? When can we expect this?"

And to the people who do this... why?

Hello,
I’m a junior data scientist and in my current job I mostly code using Pyspark (no machine learning) so I would like to work on a side project that could leverage my profile and data science/ML skills. What project would you advice me to work on ? (it can be a kaggle project, or a classic task that you do at your job, or a paper that you read).
I’m overwhelmed by the many suggestions online and would prefer to get a suggestion directly from professionals.
PS : I’m not a beginner.

Making a lot of money relative to the average but feeling poor? Median after-tax income was ~$55,000 in 1981 and was ~$73,000 in 2020. Using a Bank of Canada inflation calculator $55,000 in 1981 is equivalent to ~$165,000 today, which would put someone in the top 10% of earners today. But in 1981 the median family had that extra money. Who can I blame?
