I’m a lead on a project and all the other leads got to travel to meet a client recently but I wasn’t invited. How do I not take that personally?
Potential agency boomerang having a hard time making a decision to stay brand-side or go back. Need some advice! Do I leave the brand, being "the client," fun work, great WLB, as well as the most toxic work environment I've ever experienced and meh pay? Do I go back to agency lead a new team with significant responsibilities, forget about WLB, sell my soul alongside smart people, get great pay and benefits? PS: I'm a mom and brand-side for 5 years. What do I need to know!? Thank you!
Partners or whomever can help me understand about billing and hours. To keep things simple, let’s say you only have one staff to work 1,700 billable hours a year on a $60k salary and you have only one job that and the rate charged to the client is $300/hour and an projected hours budget of 1,700 hours. So ideally you would have revenue of $510k. If the staff takes less time partners make less money and if they take more time partners make more money while the staff keeps the same salary?
A junior requested to be reassigned from my project because I let them know they were under performing and delayed a project deadline due to inaction. They've let me know that I've made them feel pretty bad and does not think I'm a good manager. However it has been a consistent issue with this individual (lack of initiative, motivation, sloppy deliverables, and does not ask questions when they are unclear on an ask). I have tried to make space for them to ask questions and take initiative (cont)
If you’ve been at the same client b/c you’re constantly winning work there, does it help when it comes time for promotion? I heard it’s generally the fast track to a promo but not sure if it’s true.
When the client says they want strategic solutions but shoots down every strategic recommendation in favor of short term quick fixes and workarounds
Interested in getting others perspective here. Senior consultant but received an offer in healthcare industry for more money and an upgraded title. TC for the offer is about a 25% increase, with the base being higher than my current TC. Currently working on a high profile client and have a decent chance of being promoted to manager next year but will probably go through hell this year to get it and it’s not a sure thing. Should I take the money and run?
I have a close family member that has asked me to "write a letter," as her attorney, to a service provider who she believes is in breach. I don't mind doing it, but I'm not sure whether I can engage her without bringing her into my firm as a client. Because of our relationship, I wouldn't bill her, but it doesn't seem like I should bring in clients to my firm without billing them. How are these situations normally handled?
Headed back to a client site for the first time since February 2020. What do people even wear anymore?! I feel like a kid playing dress up. Help.

I just noticed that I have a “touch base” scheduled for 9:15, then a “check in” at 11:00 on the same project. I’ll let you know what the difference is when we circle back.
How does everyone go about pricing? Project rates? Hourly rates? It’s hard to find that sweet spot between pricing yourself out and selling yourself short. Sr. copywriter/ACD in a midsize market.
The partner in my department ‘threw me under the bus’ with an issue on a case which was outside of my control. Without going into detail, it was a big client and she was saving herself. Understandable but naively, I was expecting better.
A white friend is looking to buy an apartment. One apartment is in an older building in an established neighborhood. It doesn't have an in-unit washer/dryer. The other apartment is in a brand new building in a historically black neighborhood that has seen a lot of gentrification but it's still near a project with a gym, a nice roofdeck with a grill and in-unit washer dryer and costs $100k less. She's considering the first place despite it being more expensive and older. Racism is expensive.
Client Expectations vs Budget
Anyone have any experience with filing taxes when you earned money out of state? (i.e. Project was out of state) Should I just use H&R Block?
Very low since I recently got rolled off a project and been on bench for a bit. I don’t know if should start looking for other jobs.. Any words of wisdom for folks who went through a tough patch?
What is the use case for any crypto project (and summarily the coin) when it can eventually be absorbed or done better by a corporation? Think VET vs IBM

How might our nation reconcile its “dire” teacher shortage? How would you do it, given the opportunity?
Currently interviewing for a Manager role at Deloitte in their CBO/OT - Payments team. My next interview is with 3 practitioners (40min each) to discuss role and fitness. Has anyone gone through a similar interview process with D recently? Or if you’re an SM/Partner, mind sharing the interview process at this stage?
Am I wrong in thinking it’s inappropriate to talk negatively about members of a specific gender or race at work? I’ve been hearing more of it recently.
Is Director at PwC equivalent to SM at the other Big 4? If so, why are SM at PwC seemingly paid more than SM at the other Big 4?
What are your thoughts on RSM consulting? Specifically on compensation, WLB, exit opps, and types of work.
I don’t love excel but I like strategy. I can do the analytics but definitely not amazing at it. Is it silly to go into a tech growth strategy role from consulting? Should I pivot to something totally new?
Is the interview process to get into IBD harder or easier than top consulting firms like BCG/McKinsey/Bain? Where do the truly smart people work nowadays?
This might be a dumb question but are you allowed to disclose who your clients are in an interview? E.g., if you worked on matters for a Fortune 500, can you name that company in your interview?
Ladies & Gentlemen, with one month left in Q2, some will fall short of our numbers. Others will hit them. I can’t speak for all of us here, however, I can speak for myself. That being said, I will NOT be one that comes up short of my number. Now, this leads me to you all, to present a question. If you have to prospect, if you’re looking for new business, is it worth $1500 to put 95% of your prospecting process on autopilot? If so, let’s chat.

I’ve been in the same city for too long and want to move, but my agency is getting into a hybrid model. I feel like I missed the timeframe to jump cities during covid and need advice on how to navigate the conversation with my manager. Has anyone been able to do this recently without having to get a new job?
What is the difference between working in consulting in SF vs. NYC? Looking to relocate after UG, but want to make sure I'm making the right decision. I'm thinking about WLB, network, exit opp, culture, price, quality of life, etc.
I need serious advice. I’m so sick of the one matrimonial site I’m on. Any suggestions on which ones actually work? Any success stories from those of you who went this route? 30F fwiw.
I was let go by EY last September, does anyone know if they are hiring back the people they let go? I am from tax. Given the speculation of oct visa bulletin, where it’s anticipated, similar to last year this year too the date of filing might move ahead 4-5 years, in this scenario my date might become current and would like to file 485 with EY since my current PERM is not yet initiated. Please advise.
