ADHD since 1992 LD dyslexic dysgraphia dyscalculia since 2000 . Both how I viewed myself as a LD person than n now and as each diagnosis grew each approach grew. What I can say is ppl love when I’m open about it and share and it’s seen more as a super power now than a weakness in the 90s . Ppl r being hired just for being A Nuro divergent I wish my 90s set knew that ! Ld loud n proud here

Growing up I’ve always wondered if I had some form of ADHD since I had a lot of trouble focusing in class. Lately I’ve found myself zoning out during meetings more often and started wondering again. Can anyone share their journey on how they got diagnosed, what your first steps were, and if you used any firm resources?

I’ve done nothing for 3 hours straight. I just cba. Wth?!

So I finally got the courage to go to a psychiatrist and get tested to see if I have ADHD or any other “disorders” I don’t like that word . I find out my results on the 21st of April !

Is it much easier to learn through listening than reading? I cannot pay attention when reading, but since I have started using audiobooks, I have consumed 3-4 books a week.

What types of work accommodations can help people with ADHD? I am starting to believe 35+ of having not managed my ADHD has really negatively impacted me in career growth etc. I'm realizing a lot of things about myself are because of the ADHD. I want better for myself and family but 1. I don't enjoy the same things forever 2. Imposter syndrome and RSD make me believe it's acceptable to start over in new places at low salaries. 3. Typical college won't work for me. 4. I also can't relocate.

Has anyone hired an assistant ( virtual or otherwise) to help them with managing their life? Any tips/tricks/stories? I’m done with myself…..

Daylight savings is kicking my ass. I also have fibromyalgia so the cold weather is kicking my ass. Overall I seem lazy and in an unmotivated haze. How do you pick yourself up? I need 40 billables this week.

Let me tell you how my day went..Woke up this morning with no memory of what tasks I worked on last week or what my priorities were for this week. I viewed my Planner pad to refresh my memory and prioritize. Got a workout in & some intermittent fasting. So far so good.


Then out of the blue, my manager pinged me saying I had missed out on completing training. Not a good look as he had reminded me about another training last week. I immediately spiraled into negative thoughts, coming up (cont'd)

Executive dysfunction is so annoying. Not only am I avoiding things I don't want to do, I'm also avoiding things I DO want to do, things that make me feel good or that I need.

My boss assigns projects with unclear expectations and provides no guidance on how to achieve them.

I've asked for help, and, to avoid a long post, she expects me to figure it out. Perhaps you go through this too, but when I don't have a clear guide on completing big projects, it paralyzes me because I don't know where to start. On top of that, I have anxiety, so "it has to be perfect".

How do you approach projects when your boss plays the "guess what's in my head" game?

Anyone in Chicago that loves their therapist? I have realized I need to find someone that focuses on ADHD and will be really practical and pragmatic about how to manage work.

(I know I'm really talking about a coach, but I do also need the therapy part, and can't afford anything not covered by insurance, anyway)

What kinds of meds are you on to help with ADHD?

Anyone else find themselves the most focused at the end of the work day? Any tips for finding that focus earlier in the day?

What adhd medication has worked for you best. And why? I know everyone reacts to each & every medication differently. Also do you stack it with any supplements to help with your adhd symptoms?

Does anyone have any experience with Qelbree? I was diagnosed this year (38 yo) and I’ve tried handing it without meds but have been unsuccessful. This is what my doctor prescribed since I am trying to avoid stims. What was your experience like? Thanks!

Are there any other Project Managers who have ADHD ? What type of PM work do you do? Outside of it just not being what I want for a career path if I advance / I don’t find it rewarding anymore, I have greatly struggled as I’ve moved up and now with the simplest things. I’m turning in my notice this week because of how badly it affects my well being especially the last year and a half. I plan to take a long time off and look for something once I have resigned. Any insight is appreciated.

What courses or certificates would you recommend for someone who wants to learn how software works from a top-down approach?

My main goal is to understand how everything is connected, and why something is needed where it is needed.
