Not an admin or hiring, but I was perfectly honest about my reason for leaving two times (in 5 years!!) and being honest is relatable. I was burnt out, thought I was done..then it was school supplies season and I was drawn to the markers and notebooks and sad that I left. Honesty is the most relatable policy imo and if it isn’t then you shouldn’t work there because they won’t get it and it will happen again

Thank you! I’m definitely going to be honest ... but I’m the “Reason for Leaving” line on the application there’s enough for ONE sentence... So I don’t know how to say “I don’t feel at home yet” without making it seem like I’m difficult or a loner (neither is true!)

Just say that. That’s an awesome response. Schools are looking for “family” who are going to stick with it through thick and thin

How much do freelancers ACTUALLY make? Like if I’m coming from a sophisticated firm with 5+ years of experience and want to bill myself out to firms to do diligilence, securities reporting review, etc. - how much would that make me per hour, approx? 100? 150-200?

I entered law school in my late 30's as a second career. I have strong pre-law experience (Executive of small company, 60 employees, $4m budget, MBA, etc.) and law school credentials (Top 10%, Managing Editor of Law Review). I'm willing to make less coming out of school than I did before, but want to ultimately land as in-house counsel with a decent wlb and make $200k+. I'm looking for advice on the best path to get there and how long I can expect it to take.

Desperate for ideas on how to deal with insane discovery requests in Florida given the lack of special sets and the time it takes a court to hear a motion for protective order. It's becoming a pattern that we do our objections or a motion for protective order, but OC's immediately move to compel and for sanctions at the discovery deadline. By the time the court decides the issue, it's usually in favor of the party propounding the discovery because they hate overdue discovery and don't even read.
