Bain Cap and Advent are MFs, Berkshire is more UMM. All have a great brand name and reputation. Bain Cap NAPE recent poor performance means some people view it a little differently now. Have heard culture at Bain Cap and Berkshire is really good (not crazy hours and people are very friendly/collegial) - haven’t heard about Advent. Comp for all three will be around the same as MF PE average (which is notable for Berkshire because that means they pay above their UMM peers)
Egh disagree. Went to top 3 and know several PE people that had scholarships. I’m sure financial position going in matters, but some schools are also focused on competing for highly competitive admits. Like, if you get accepted at HBS and Wharton and you tell Wharton that you would be moved to accept them but you need more money to attend…they may just give you a more substantial scholarship. Good GMAT along with everything else helps justify that. If you bring down their average though without adding sufficient diversity (industry, nationality, gender, future goals, past achievements) I would guess that’s not as attractive and let’s be honest…PE doesn’t generally funnel in a super broad group based on any of those points.
In terms of what? Market caps, WLB, Culture ?
Reputation, WLB, comp, etc
