Unfourtanetly this type of behavior is common, and I see it in my work job every time there is a meeting. There will always be something to correct, and you must learn to say no. I advise learning to say no or just go with what you have. If the consultant comes back at you, explain the situation. If you keep getting stressed about it, the only one that will suffer is you.
You are welcome :) Happy to be able to offer some advice.
Are you happy with their work, and is the impediment potentially a DEI&B issue?
Rough spot you're in, OP. I think with the final date of contract today and this meeting being scheduled, your best option is to hold firm.
I'd be spending some time today on CYA stuff though; I understand how this could look poorly on you though sounds like it's entirely on them.
What a messy way for them to end this :(
Asked if we could reschedule to later in the week.
There are several executives in this meeting that don’t have a lot of availability.
If I reschedule, would it look like I can't handle consultants or vendors? While it gives me more time prepare, it is extremely unreliable. It may reflect bad on me.
If I keep the meeting, I'll have to create a full hour presentation, of which I am about halfway through (working through the weekend), and do it myself, very likely without the consultants.
I don't know what to professionally do. This is for a DEI&B Program that is both internally and externally focused to our organization and I am the only one who does my job for my global org of 4000+. (2/2)
This happens and it's normal. I think you can just reschedule it and explain the situation. It's not a crime to say no and be honest.
