Ew. Let that stay a dream then

Ooof that is a massive drop. I’d personally spend some more time in consulting, get a promotion, try to get on some more marketing related or sales projects. Then switch over at a higher level

When I was 1.5 years into my career, I wish I took the risk and joined my dream company. Back then, I didn’t want 1.5 years to go to waste. But now, 7 years into my career, I regret not taking the chance. I would be probably be making the same money that I make right now if I switched and stayed in the new path. Also happier.

Still try to negotiate a higher salary though, it’s very little in this market.

You make more money job hopping than getting internal promotions. So lets say you take the offer at 52k, is anything above 82k guaranteed? How long would it take to break even to where you are now? I would hold off on that dream job and not burn any bridges while at it. Who knows maybe in the future you’ll get a bigger offer at the same company for a more senior role.

I think you just need to change your dream company, start dreaming better. All the best

Can’t live off dreams. Need income to survive

Surely there are other roles at your dream company? I wouldn’t drop salary esp in this market.

Dream jobs don’t exist

Run the numbers with your current budget. Can you afford to save any money after taking a $25k hit to TC?

It depends what company? Sometimes it is ok to switch early for long term longevity of career

No no no I wouldn’t do that. Take a pay cut for a “dream job” only if you already make a lot of money. Certainly not 80k to 50k

No, you need to have the dream company and the dream role, else you’re settling.

No. That may be your dream company, but definitely not your dream entry point.

Negotiate harder, if it’s HCOL OR MCOL, no corporate jobs should be offering below 70 imo. I certainly wouldn’t be trying to hire anyone with only 52k in budget

Ummm no

Would it make sense for me to stay longer and look for a more lateral move than start entry level? I really don’t want to go back to entry level

A dream industry and its entertainment industry

Hate to burst your bubble - a “dream” company doesn’t mean a dream role. Don’t take the pay cut (and most likely responsibility cut). Work your way up, stay focused and in 5-7 years see if that’s still your “dream” company. You may find out you’d rather do something else and you’ll be happy you didn’t take a step back.

Dream job in marketing? 🤮
