Get used to saying no. People will take from you what you will continue to give them. Set boundaries and start creating a transition plan. You never know when baby might decide to make their appearance!

This. It’s not okay that they keep trying to pull you in, but you will always be the one ultimately in charge of keeping your boundaries. People will keep asking if you keep saying yes. Be firm with boundaries for your health and your baby’s. You will absolutely have to do this over and over when Baby is born too. Some people also may not be aware of what your boundaries are.

Get a note from your dr and talk to HR about formal accommodations. I’m due in 2 days and I’ve been where you are, mama. It doesn’t get better. You deserve the space to have a healthy pregnancy and HR can help you hold the line if management isn’t stepping up.

Second this. I had a note from my OB/GYN saying I cannot work more than 40h/week due to serious pregnancy complications. Everyone backed off instantly. I was able to finish my 3rd trimester in a relatively low stress work environment and baby was born perfect.

Work was being piled onto me when I I was 30+ weeks. The company wanted to add an additional project to my plate at ~36 weeks. I asked them not to and I could just pitch in on short term busdev help, etc. They respected my request, and guess what? I went into labor at 37+1, unexpectedly. Had they assigned me to a new project, they would have been so screwed. Good luck, take care of yourself please. Right now, focus is the baby. Work will be there after maternity leave.

Hi moms - I had posted earlier about nanny not active with toddler ( toddler bottles up and melts down a lot in the evening), let baby cry etc. I had the gut feeling that she is not the right fit for us and many moms here agreed. I am now trying to tell her that she isn’t the fit for us but this is my first time. Can you provide suggestions how to let go a nanny ? I plan to provide her severance for 2 weeks but I am not sure how to tell her - short and sweet

I’m 11 wks pregnant and started this new project right as I got pregnant- it’s been such a tough project and I’m not able to keep up. I’m not sure what to do - I’ve totally fallen behind and am not sure how I’m going to be able to proceed. I need something slower paced. Do I tell them I’m pregnant or do I just keep trying to do my best. 😞

New dad here with a 10 week old. Wife is working extremely hard to take care of the baby and lately he's very fussy with her and but not me. He'll keep fussing, complaining and crying on her when he's tired and when she hands him to me he gets comfy and falls asleep in 10 mins. Its defeating for her and its killing me seeing how upset she is. She's amazing but she's getting it in her head that she's a bad mom. I'm hoping its just a phase... Anyone experience this? How long till your baby stopped favoring one parent do much? Any tips?

Has anyone tried EMDR to deal with childhood traumatic experiences? I'm not talking about things like physical abuse etc. but due to separation from parents at a young age which was driven by circumstances and decisions parents made. Due to this, I don't feel much connection with my parents. It has impacted my romantic relationships and causes constant anxiety at work because I feel like a helpless child inside, lack confidence and self worth and fear failure. Appreciate any EMDR experiences.

Hope to learn more if you bought an apt in Manhattan, or if you decided against it (renting/moving to upstate/Long Island/Jersey). My husband and I are considering to have a baby soon and are thinking of buying and living in Manhattan for the next 10 years or so (looking at property under $2M). Please share what you considered as you were making the decision - I hate throwing away rent but also don’t want to trap ourselves in significant financial obligations. Thanks!

Well I'm a first time mom and feel home bound running the baby cycles. My baby is not a good sleeper so I feel like I am on 24/7. When he is a asleep in doing the usual bottles, dinner etc. I feel like I need more confidence to get myself and baby out of the house with everything in tow but I suppose walking through malls could help. Houston heat doesn't make it ideal to walk around outside during the day. I also do the night cycles solo so I'm pretty much too exhausted to do anything but want to get more scheduled about it so I can plan on an hour here and there when my husband gets home.

My dad was talking to my long term bf about setting life goals, and told him a story about a family friend whose wife had a large corporate job and her husband “was the stay at home mom” (said in a way that was clearly meant to be a dig at the husbands masculinity). My mom stayed home to raise me & my siblings, which ALLOWED my dad to work long hours/be successful.
