I’m in trading operations. I graduated during COVID and it has been my ultimate goal to become a trader. I know it’s insanely difficult to pivot from back office to trading but I would welcome any advice on making that transition.
People always say sue the company or owner. Is it that easy to sue someone? Especially around employment when people are getting laid off due to Covid. I think Deloitte or any big consulting firm it’s not easy to sue them, they are well protected
I remember online high yield savings accounts like Ally and Marcus used to offer APYs over 2.00% pre-covid. Nowadays they’re not even more than 0.5%. What the heck, I think the markets have more than recovered, why are these rates still so low.
I was hoping the vaccine would help us get back to more normal, open, and less restricted activities. In some ways it has but since there are so many unvaccinated, is there any other way we’ll be able to move forward from this pandemic? P.S. I’m not trying to start a big argument, I’m genuinely just looking for the light at the end of this tunnel.
Anyone been to Disneyland lately? Are there still long lines? My wife and I have been under a rock staying at home due to covid and having a newborn at home and being extra safe, but I wanted to take my wife to Disneyland for Halloween. Is it relatively covid safe there?
How hard is it to get fired or put on PIP in Big 4 or public accounting in general? Aside from covid related departures.
Anyone wonders what happens if you are working in US as non resident alien and got COVID19? Nobody is going to care? 😕
Looking for a Marketing Intern on out team! 13 weeks, paid, remote. Opportunity to check out our NYC office if you’re local, or get together in person with your mentor if in the RVA area - pending COVID. https://www.spinmastercareers.com/global/be/job/R786/Marketing-Intern
Annoying how the hospitality industry cut corners for COVID precautions but now are still keeping those corners cut just due to it saving money. Think it'll ever return back to normal completely?
My work was very understaffed prior to COVID. I hope the healthcare industry learns from this experience and increases staffing appropriately.
Supposed to be moving to France from the US in a few weeks for a new job, it’s been six months in the works of getting the visa situation handled. With this coronavirus now, I’m afraid (cont)
I don’t have a tribe, but I’d like to have one. This lifestyle, pre-Covid anyway did a number on my social life. Maybe I watch too much tv but how are people finding their girlfriends? 😭 for reference I’m 26!
Long post alert. Also, confusing post alert haha. So, I'm going to be divorced in the next few months and have 2 kids who'll be with me. Ever since this situation has been finalized, I'm becoming very conscious of our spend & have been tight about it. Covid has helped. But I noticed that even my grocery store bills are pretty high...like a single run to Meijer is $125+. Costco is like $200 or so. We've always had fresh fruits, nuts liberally used in our house. Moms, I have a 2 year old and a 3 month old. Everyone on my family is vaccinated. What are safe activities to do with these kiddos in the midst of all this covid variant environment. I thought about the pumpkin patch, hiking, the park, and walks as long as we distance from others. I just get nervous about catching colds or a breakthrough covid infection. I’m not paranoid, just risk averse. The whole family got the TSV bug a month ago, and it was miserable. Just trying to be practical, but not a
Egg retrieval for IVF tomorrow! COVID test came back negative and did the trigger shots last night. The hcg trigger that goes in the butt caused much consternation but ended up being a breeze. NO injections tonight yay!
So umm whose’s going to tell him? Also not surprised over half the people in this pic have caught COVID.
For those who’ve had Covid, did your cough come and go? I’m having pretty bad coughing attacks in the morning but resolving itself by midday. Hoping it’s just allergy symptoms but wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience that turned out to be Covid
I’m done with this contrived stress. I want to run off to Buenos Aires for a few months. I want to sit in a cafe, enjoy a nice cold Quilmes and people watch. I wonder how cheap travel will be to Buenos Aires after Covid. Their economy is f’d right now
I would love to get this bowl/forum up and moving again! How is everyone in the ServiceNow space doing these days with covid ?
📊 Poll: Genuinely interested to get a pulse on the political leanings of our industry. Please keep it kind, keep it civil, and vote on the options below:
Anybody get a GSB interview invite and assigned an interviewer already? Wondering if we have 7 days in which to have the interview or 7 days in which to settle on a date?
So my client is “business casual” but everyone typically wears suits without the tie. How do you guys structure different outfits? I feel like I’m running out of clothes already and need to buy more
I'm about to interview for a VP position at a startup but have never managed before. Is it smart, as a Black woman, to ask directly about support for mangers (ie supporting me is one of my reports didn't want to listen to me, etc)? Or maybe I can ask but very vaguely and indirectly? This is a 2nd (3rd, 4th & 5th over the course of the next 2 days) interview that includes the founders of the company.
Hi all I have started a new post as a sales manager for a Fibre optics company, I feel I have been thrown in the deep end and asked to swim, it's a small company and want me to head up the sales team for corporate companies, also asked me to put together a marketing strategy
Someone could talk about STEAM? activities and how to use this kind of learning in the classroom.
Mercury is wonderful. I tried to do my expense and time sheet today. It shows me no authorization. Best control !!!!
Considering pursuing FRM certification. Currently in FS and don’t have a background in business/finance (studied Econ). Would FRM help bridge the subject matter knowledge gap?
What is your opinion on GARP financial Risk Manager (FRM) certificate? I am considering taking it (as I am FS Risk Consulting), but I am not sure if it really carries benefits. Apparently it is quite a tough study. Is it worth the time or should I invest my time elsewhere? Also do you have learning material you are willing to share :D?
Anyone know if companies are doing virtual holiday parties and if so, what are they doing? I’m tasked with planning mine, but if I have to sit on another awkward zoom happy hour I might just explode. Open to suggestions or ideas. My team is spread out internationally, so even sending a stupid “swag” gift is next to impossible.
I don't get the point of getting an MBA. I feel like there's nothing b-school can teach you that you can't teach yourself... and networking is feasible without the help of an overpriced university.
Minneapolis or Kansas City?
Can someone help with the base salary range for a 6+ years experienced finance professional with FRM and CFA certifications in Big 6 firms in Advisory practice? Also, what should be the expectations for joining bonus during the current times?
My maternity leave is coming to an end in a little over a month. What are some things (both practical AND fun things) I should check off my list before going back to work, aside from childcare prep?
Per diem dinner allowance for Orlando at KPMG seems low at $33. That city has become much more expensive especially since it’s essentially a resort town. What do other firms allow?
Looking to leave the firm after 2 years on the same project. When is best to start conversations- while interviewing or after an offer? Don’t want to burn bridges
Anyone hiring at a non profit?
