🙄 stop your whining and grow up. It’s short term, helps the firm, is needed to help the economy, and keeps you busy. Someday you might even look back on it as a story you tell your kids.

Doesn’t make it any better m3

I am a first generation immigrant. Frankly I would say if an immigrant gets an opportunity that you have she would jump in with both feet. The immigrants survive in US by doing truly whatever it takes, whatever jobs, whatever locations. Trust me. They would do anything to feed their family. That is the mentality that makes America great. Think about those Europeans who moved to US 300 years ago. Take this as an experience to build character. Please stop whining. There is always a silver lining there. Go luck my friend.

This must be for the small business loans as part of the stimulus bill. I'm hearing all the big banks are about staff up with some big 4 new hires to do the paperwork. RIP

like

It is. I’ve got 20 years banking experience. Banks cannot handle the demand nor can their system. Hence those that work for the bank stay on line working during the day hours. Avoid OT pay. The big 4 will take over in the late hours as their systems will not be slammed and can get these applications processed quickly . It’s a 24/7 process. It’s a Win win in helping these small business who are in dire need. Only the strong rise above it even if the hours suck. It’s not about you but a community effort to help others in need.

It’s so surprising to me that even during a disease pandemic which is causing death in a way the likes we haven’t seen, loads of people in consulting only focus on making work an even greater focus in life further becoming donkeys - whose only good is that they work all day and night.

like

It sounds like your people, sorry resources, are required to work 48+ hours per week during odd nightshift hours in the spring/summer. Wondering how their health is being taken into consideration, or their living circumstances (significant others, children, pregnancy, roommates, etc.).

Take the work. With white collar layoffs soaring you will want to be needed and working as long as possible.

This what happens with low margins works are won and when all big4 try to outbid each other. KPMG got hit bad with the $500 million lakehouse which no one will use. They have no cash..I heard they already talking about freezing pensions and 401k. Anyone can confirm?

smartfunny

Not yet

that’s where they throw all the slackers on bench to make a lil cash before they lay their asses off 😂😂😂

A few thoughts. There is always something to learn in every engagement. What do you have to learn in order to manage that team or not just “work it” but improve your work (helps you) or improve the team’s work (helps your prestige at the client and at your firm. Never “drone out” no matter how hard the working conditions are.

Also - don’t give up unless you have an exit plan and a job lined up. Things are weird right now.

I had to take a short term gig working as a business analyst. I’m a senior manager and architect with 17 years experience with hot skills. I was on the bench. I was happy to take it. I’ll be billable and I’ll scramble to get on a more relevant project. Do what you gotta do to stay billable. It’s short term.

I don't think your unhappiness is about this one issue (6 pm - 6 am) shift. Reading your other posts your issues with KPMG seem to be deeper. You should do some serious soul searching and make a decision. So keep in mind every Firm has it's baggage and so do we as individuals. Wherever you go, you will still take your personal baggage with you. Perhaps time for a new career?

6PM - 6AM?

As of now, It is definitely 12 hour shifts, the resource managers either lied or were misinformed when they communicated 8-10 hour shifts.

What type of project is this

Sorry but you need to grow up...

what practice are you in

It’s all practices across the firm - audit tax advisory and BPG

Hi everyone! I am in a weird situation right now that I haven’t been in before and could really use some advice especially from women who might have faced or seen something similar. Long story short, I was brought into my current firm and promised that the work I want to do is within the team/solution they recruited me for and aligned me with in the system. However, once I started working on the project, it became very clear that I’m in the wrong team and on the wrong project (continued below)
