How are your snapshots? If you're partially next level/next level across the board, you can probably start your transfer now. The firm is always short on seniors. They won't hold up a good senior for wanting to transfer offices. It also makes it easier on the team to know you'll be gone before 2016 planning gets underway.
Good seniors are in short supply. It's the level that everyone leaves at. Every firm out there could use more good seniors. As the others said, start right away and be open about it. The firm knows that if they don't accommodate you'll just leave. Not sure how concerned you are with salary, but if you jump firms you're almost assured a larger salary. With an internal transfer they will likely keep you at your current salary, which is below market . When you transfer firms the new firm will pay market rate to get you. Again you have to weigh this against the cons of moving firms (new methodology, etc...), but it can't hurt to interview.
Start now. Some transfers can take forever 😑
I'd be super open about it. Talk to your coach. Talk to local HR. Ask to be put in touch with destination HR. And then just say fuck it and interview with another firm because that will get you there quicker
Talk to your coach who will then connect you with a partner to get the ball rolling. The partner I worked with have me some connections to make the transition easier.
Also - doesn't matter if there is a role open, they will work with you if your ratings are high! Good luck!!
My coach is genuine. Dunno about my RP... Never met him (been 4 yrs)
NP. Goodluck.
Just have general questions here. Does talking to coach or partner help at all? In my office, opening to your Coach/RP means your career is over. People will talk and throw you under the bus immediately. This personally happened to me.
If your office Coach/PR is a douche that sucks; most are not. I've seen /experienced the opposite. Good luck. Sorry for the foul language but that type of behavior is unnecessary. I say keep fighting for your move.
SEATTLE is hiring don't assume they aren't because you don't see an opening on the system. The recruiter for the Seattle office is nice, reach out and talk... She's chatty in a good way 👍👍
Ya. Just cold call them. I'd be surprised if you didn't get interviews. You might end up just transferring with PwC, but I always feel that when you're moving cities it doesn't hurt to see what else is out there.
For what it's worth it's a good office: friendly, good HR staff, lots of events to build a community but you aren't forced to participate, new office, people will say hi and not just walk by without acknowledging you, and the guy who runs the office is awesome!
Haha I know.. If you see another post asking for Seattle housing advice that will be me!!
It just takes time to adjust its just so different - but not in comparable ways. Now I'm an outdoor person; went freaking zip lining last summer - I almost don't recognize myself, but finally having fun now that I stopped comparing.
Are you up for senior or up for manager?
Senior
Yeah I have mostly partially next level/next level. Problem is the office I want to transfer to doesn't have a senior opening posted right now. Does that matter? I should probably start with talking to my coach right? How about reaching out to the target office too? Thanks a lot PwC 1!!

Thanks a ton pwc 1 and 2! Will start talking to my coach tomorrow
