Advice needed-
I’m a second year staff and am trying to decide if I should stick it out one more year (to hopefully have one senior busy season under my belt) or if I should start looking for positions now? I definitely don’t want to stay in PA, just trying to figure out if I will have better exit opportunities if I hold out for one more year. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Being promoted at your first job is extremely telling of long term career success.

Can’t help those that won’t help themselves I guess. Good luck OP

Just keep your eyes open for anything that peaks your interest. You can casually search, if your dream job comes up before senior then that’s perfect. If not, start to be more active with the job search.

Thanks everyone! I do have my CPA but am a little unsure of what I want to go into. I would really like to work in the renewable energy space or basically any field where I feel as though I’m benefiting society more than in my current role. Maybe I’m disillusioned to what’s out there but I’ll at least see what’s out there!

like

Leave I left right before senior promotion for a senior role in industry

like

What do you want to go into?

Depending on what you want to do, you can definitely get a good role without having to do that extra busy season. It definitely helps to have that Senior title, even if you don’t do the busy season. Also helps if you already have your CPA.

Stick it out and get one year of senior under your belt, maybe some industry specialization, then jump out for more money.

Stick it out!

We interviewed a great candidate, extended a verbal offer and she accepted. We sent the written offer a few days ago but she hasn’t opened it or accepted (it’s expiring tomorrow). I’m interviewing with another firm next week. Has anyone made a switch like that before? How did you do it? I work in a small criminal firm now. Interview is with a same size/practice area firm.

Hi,

Just started a new job less than a month ago in the tech sector. It was the industry I was fixated on when leaving for. However I realise that I don't think I can cope with the fast paced, lack of wlb, with no support - it's really impacting my mental health already....

I try to hide it from my boyfriend, but its impact is flowing into my personal life.
I feel like a failure, but recognise it might be beneficial to cut loss and quit. Has anyone been in this situation?

Any advice?

Need advice. I’m at my first job in private accounting. Previous experience is as an auditor. I am struggling to figure out the way JEs are posted at my current company. Hi peeps!
Got two offers on the table, who love to hear your advice!

- Finance Business Partner for a late stage (Series D/valuation 3B) startup tech company

- Corp Dev analyst role for a listed niche gambling company

The tech job pays 15k more, but from what I can see will be a cluster and super long hours (has EU stakeholders). Maybe a pipe dream, but I want to have a "somewhat" decent wlb while still growing my career toward strategy and finance.

Thoughts on which one is better?
