Hi Everyone,
Was hoping to get a hand or advice. I had submitted an application the Travelers for a marketing position in early November, resume shows received but nothing else. Is there someone that works there that could direct me to a HR email or contact person? Have had nothing but a positive experience working with Travelers in my last two roles as an agent and then an underwriter would love to have to the opportunity to work directly with Travelers. You have to take the time to challenge your standards, develop people and prioritize:
1. Classify what is important vs nice to have. Will this change make a difference or is it just me being picky?
2. Provide comments and/or sit with them through it and explain so they learn why it matters. Content is always important but sometimes presentation is equally so, but people don’t always understand why, so you need to explain.
3. Is your time better spent doing this or something else?
Whats your sun sign? Capricorn?
Communicate your high expectations from the start.
Set deadlines that allow for rework.
Send unacceptable products back for revision.
I am a manager and I can say that the directors I have worked with would save a lot of time for themselves if they follow P1’s point #1.
If you default to doing it yourself then you are not leading or building capability within the team. P1’d advice is great, especially #1. Understand that there may be more than one way to get to a destination, more than one format that works — not just your way.
