How are you approaching the conversation?
1. Take a list of all your accomplishments to your manager and try to quantify them in terms of business impact as much as possible. Revenue made, revenue protection, cost saved, efficiency improved % etc. Make it an objective discussion. 2. Bring up your salary history and ask why you need to be paid more based on 1 and 2. Reminder - be professional and keep emotions out. 3. Ask for next steps and when you should follow up. 4. Follow up as appropriate. Other advice 1. Timebox your ask. I.e. if your manager says he needs 3 months, give him that time. 2. If nothing happens for 3 months, give him a nudge and see where this stand. If you don't make progress, time to repeat the above exercise and have an honest conversation about your career and compensation growth.
This is solid!
Needless to say, you have zero leverage unless you have an outside offer. So the fastest way to negotiate salary is an outside offer. 🙂
