Time to hang a shingle! You have many connections and experiences to lean on at this point

Agree this is definitely an option. I’m pretty risk averse and while I have a history of decent success with business development I’m a bit nervous to go out on my own straight from govt. Clerking was already an unexpected and significant paycut for a year. So I’d like to have some stability for the foreseeable future. I have no portable business to take at the moment. If I were currently at a firm I think I might feel differently about this particular option. Thanks and keep the suggestions coming!

There is also the option to go into the executive branch after clerking. You’ll likely interact with AUSAs, and if you think you’ll enjoy that job, you should go for it. They like people with 5-7 years of experience in my district. Just make sure you apply early in your clerkship, the process takes a long time. And be ready to cap out at around $150k

Interesting. Had not thought of this. Will definitely look into it (though I’m running low on time now so this could be difficult absent some flexibility from the Court on the clerkship or in another position). Thanks!

Apparently more than a few of my firm's associates moved to other states during COVID and are now quitting because we are coming back to the office. The wierd thing is that my office is quickly replacing those associates with other associates that moved here (a large secondary market) during COVID and refuse to go back to their (mostly NYC-based) firms. Is this churn happening at other firms too?

I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist, but am I the only person who thinks the mass publication of the Omicron variant by the media was due to traditionally low viewership during the holidays? It seems like the Media wants to dictate COVID’s trajectory & demise to align with their business strategy. As overall viewership falls in a post-Trump era and waning COVID numbers, big media has to be a little nervous about audience retention.

Does anyone know the timeline for this given my H1B is getting amended ? (My country has no waiting time).
