After 2 years of home office I finally started working for a company... in an... office. How long it takes me to eliminate my resignation urges?

For me it didn't end up going away. I tried to negotiate being able to return to working from home but ultimately I had to look for a position somewhere else that would allow WFH.

Let me know if they ever do, I'm still waiting for mine to go away haha

I think some of us just thrive in that home environment. Maybe it's not the right move for you to stay in a company that doesn't offer you the flexibility to do that

I'm someone who does so much better working from home. My productivity goes up and I'm so much happier! It became a requirement when I job hunt and I don't regret it.

OMG I'M GOING THROUGH THE SAME. I don't know how many cups of coffee I have to have so I'm focused on my work. I'm not used to the office noise anymore. HELP

I was really relieved to be back in the office. I missed talking to people and seeing a little bit beyond their faces. Many of my coworkers felt the same way, but in time it will get better. Good luck!

Do your best to find the positives in the change. Enjoy the free food if they provide it, chat with your coworkers about non-work stuff. If that fails...would quitting be so bad? Lots of remote jobs out there :D

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

What monitors would you recommend for home office? I am about to buy one myself. I work in FDD. Do you guys recommend the ultra wide? Curve screen? freesync? And what definition is good enough ? I really do love Apple Retina display but the price.

Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!

A nice comfortable office chair.

https://ergochair.co/collections/chairs/products/ergonomics-mesh-chair-w-adjustable-headrest-and-armrest?variant=32511617597491

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest

I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

AMA.

Just landed a full time gig, looking to get some furniture so I’m not working on my parents’ kitchen table during this remote period. Any recommendations for desks and chairs? I’m hoping to find something that’s easy to assemble and break down for when I need to move, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

I know everyone has a different kind of setup that works for them. I currently have a laptop, drawing pad, second monitor, and a desk riser.

New joiner. What should I get with my $250 wfh stipend? I already have standing desk, dual monitor, portable monitor, and good headset, not too sure what else I need, but it’s free money. Thanks.
