After 5 interviews and becoming one of the two finalists. The company decides to offer the job to the other candidate but never let me know. I was waiting for weeks and then decided to ask about my status. I got the "oh we decided to offer the job to someone else" response. I wrote back and said how disappointed I was that no one let me know until I asked.

Question: Did I burn that bridge? How do you think they handled communication and is that even a company I should want to work with?

Thats absolutely so disrespectful and inconsiderate. After 5 interview and zero courtesy, that's a bridge that can stay om fire.

likefunny

I wouldn't be concerned about burning that bridge. It was unprofessional, they dropped the ball, and it was perfectly acceptable to let them know that. If they cannot accept reasonable feedback, that's their problem and you don't want to work for them.

like

Very unprofessional.
Even a standard “Thank you for your application and time” email should have been sent.

like

Benefit of the doubt here. They don’t have a recruitment dept per say and the HRM is doing multiple things and just doesn’t know any better to ensure follow ups.

like

So sorry this happened to you. I think that letting them know shouldn't burn a bridge. It is a huge miss on their side and a process they need to improve.

like

I think you’re more than justified in your reaction. Having been in the same situation a few times myself, I’d say you edited yourself quite well 😊.

like

Plus the whole process took 3 months

like

Not sure I'd worry about burning a bridge at a company like that. If that's how they treat their top candidates, how do they treat their employees? Like someone else said, you probably dodged a bullet.

like

That was reasonable feedback. They exhibited unprofessional behavior towards you. Good riddance!

like

I hate when companies do that. It's not like they had a 100 people to notify, they had one. There is no reason to ghost someone like that in a professional setting!

like

I agree with the other comments. Burning that bridge shouldn't concern you. It's so unprofessional that they didn't even inform you.

like

I think you dodged the bullet here. 👏

Your feedback was honest and reasonable. If it burned a bridge, then it's not a bridge worth traveling anyway.

They dropped the ball for sure

I’m interviewing for jobs that would essentially lead to a minor career pivot. I have gotten to 4 straight final rounds (4-5 interviews and a presentation for each company) to be told I’m second choice in favor of someone with more experience. I’m losing my mind and so tired of interviewing tbh. What can I do differently, or do I just need to chill out and wait for a company to say yes?

I’m currently interviewing with a company that has very mixed reviews on Glassdoor. Lots of people complain about the workload and low salaries. However, I’ve been through 3 rounds of interviews (Recruiter, Marketing Director & Senior BM) and they all seemed great! When I asked about the WLB they all said they personally have great WLB. I’m having a hard time deciding which one I should trust. Glassdoor or personal interactions? Do you have similar experience?

Have a big interview tomorrow. The question I dread the most is about why you’re looking for a new job. The honest answer is that there isn’t enough work to go around at my agency and I want to get ahead of the inevitable layoffs. What’s the best way to tell them this? Do I just make something else up entirely?

What is your biggest career regret?

My biggest professional regret is not to interview with Apple back in 2004. I graduated from a reputable design school in California. Apple came to the campus to interview graduating candidates. I didn't even bother to sign up. Many people didn't either. They were on verge of bankruptcy. There weren't not many Apple stores opened then. Obviously, this was years before the iPhone phenomenal and much more :D

Curious as to how many deals at once is typical for a first year associate to take on (M&A, mostly private equity clients). Additional Posts in Human Resources

I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks - lauren
