ML Engineer - 1.5 yrs - startup - 4.8L fixed (model development, APIs)
Python backend developer - 1 year - startup - 6 L fixed. (Flask, postgresql, gcp)
Python developer - currently working here been 6 months - Innominds - 12L fixed. (Fastapi, mongodb, AWS, bit of data engineering side).

Now I'm actually looking for a change. What role should I target ML engineer or python backend? Target CTC?

Is it a good move? Currently in the industry as senior financial analyst, $120 base + 10% bonus + stock option (but the company is not public yet). Got an offer from A&M for associate (yes, down-leveled) $100K base + ?? Bonus. I heard associate TC average to $150K last year, and if I can make senior next year, TC average to $210K. I haven’t really thought about what I wanted to do long term. I tried industry for half a year it wasn’t really my thing, so I’m going back the client serving for now.

Has anyone asked for a class year bump or does it not really make sense to do that? Everyone I work with agrees that I operate at least 2 years above my level and I’m wondering if it’s worth it to try to negotiate a one year class bump.
