Tighten your back when doing chest exercises, it aligns your spine and keeps it straight and tense through the movement

Sounds like you were either:
- hiking your shoulders up and not keeping them down
- looking up. you should look down slightly to relax your neck.
You may have had slightly too much weight on there.

Yoga stretch the back with downward dog, car cow, bridge, and child pose 1/2 per day.
So for me I’ve ramped-up on running vs. classes since Apr 2020 because gyms closed. Now that they’ve reopened I haven’t rejoined because I changed my routine. I only use yoga to slowly increase flexibility. The rule is stop if you feel pain otherwise stretch further.
