After hitting target emergency fund, is it better contribute more to Roth IRA/Roth 401k or keep retirement contributions at 15% and open a brokerage account for excess savings?

I personally invest more into the 401k and ira

like

IRA. You can always pull out contributions if you really need to but once the year's deadline passes you can't go back and top it off later.

Heck out Dave ramse

Max 401k and ira before you start saving in a non-tax advantaged account. As a matter of principle

Personally, I always max out retirement funds (401k and roth ira) before putting money in my brokerage acct

Hi, question on rent. My rent was 3000 and the property management had raised the rent to $3500 when I signed the renewal(6months lease) in April. However, at the time there was an error for the site that had link to the rent renewal and I never got to sign it. And also they never changed the “due amount” to $3500 on the payment website and I just kept paying $3000 for 4th and I heard nothing from the management. However, just today the mgmt emailed saying “hey you forgot to sign this”, and

Here’s the scenario for -Spouse and i together make 300k per year. Savings - 350k.. question is how much bank loan should i take given the high interest rates and how much down payment to make given i have sufficient savings in cash. I do not plan to invest the savings into anything in near term (2-3 yrs) and want to keep a 100k at-least for emergencies.. what should be my down payment

I'm coming to the end of a contract term and being converted to FTE.

The offer was presented to me by the hiring manager and not HR/Recruiter. To me it is a lower base salary offer than expected, so I asked for info on the total compensation package (base, benefits, bonus, stock/rsu, etc.), which I was told about when they took me on under the contract with the intention to convert.

Hiring manager sends me an email with only standard benefits, no bonus, etc. Are these red flags?

Just scheduled a meeting to go over an offer for a Senior Engineer role. When asked what I would need to make in order to leave my current job, I said at least $160k depending on benefits (I know I shouldn't have given a number).

I make a little over $145k now, plus stock options, a monthly home office stipend (fully remote), and your usual health benefits.

Assuming their benefits are comparable to my current position, have I given up all negotiation power by providing the initial number?

My employer disqualifies high earners and offers them a NQSP instead. Therefore, as a high earner, I don’t qualify to contribute to 401k. Is it advisable to start contributing to NQSP? I am a bit skeptical since funds placed in this bucket is not guaranteed to be disbursed if the firm goes out of business or something happens to a point where it shut down.

Hi Sharks
I am 25 years old with in hand salary of 1L(just from last month) and i want to buy a term insurance plan. My questions are:
1. Is it wise to take 2 plans of term insurance one with return of 60 years and another without return of 80 years of each 1cr.
2. Is it wise to include health riders in insurance plan to claim for 80d or just chose health insu
3. How much one can ideally shell out for insurance per month (both term and health) for self in terms of percentage of monthly income.

It’s been painfully slow this past month in my department (corporate law) and I had low hours throughout the summer. I’ve never refused work and have always sent an email to partners when I had slower months asking for more work. I’m definitely not going to hit my target. Should I be worried? I know I’m not the only one in this position but it’s still nerve wracking. Any advise on how to control your anxiety during those times?

I’m leaving employment litigation.

Most of these disputes are so petty and almost every case is about making up makeshift reasons for what would otherwise be wrongful termination.

You see people being fired where the actual reason is for instance hooking up with the CEO’s young female crush, or speaking up about issues in the workplace.

Even the most innocuous detail can be turned against an employee. Eating lunch at your desk can e.g. easily be labelled as being ‘uncooperative’.
