After I left EY, my old team was absorbed into EY-Parthenon. What is the consensus on me listing Parthenon on my resume vs EY? I’d prefer to list Parthenon but unsure if that would be lying

I would consider that as untruthful if you were not working in that team post being absorbed

I'd say go with what you have on paper. That's the only thing you can prove. Rest is just glitter for LinkedIn :)

Maybe something like “EY-Parthenon (formally xyz team)” ?

Best answer. If you're certain it's 1:1 then it should be fine. At a university here they changed a business degree type from a random acronym to BComm and most alumni followed.

What's wrong with it? If I work in company a and it is absorbed by b, we dont list a anymore, we list b onky because they wouldnt find a . So it makes sense to say ey parthenon (formerly EY tas)

I’ll use an analogy from “The Last Dance”, and why MJ was so pissed. It was when the “new” Bulls were riding the coat tails of the Bulls name and their 3 peat when they haven’t won anything - until they got good and won. That’s when you can call yourself a champ.

That’s called a white lie. Just like people listing their promotions on their resume and LinkedIn before they are official 😂

My old company was acquired by Google. I don’t say I worked at Google.

You said “absorbed into,” not “renamed.” Bottom line is that if your team, your managers, and your peers weren’t Parthenon, you weren’t Parthenon. Your comp, training, and project experiences were probably different than if you had worked at Parthenon during that time.

Saw people from my team do that who left a year ago when it was announced. It’s kind of like “cmon man really?” It already feels fake enough and we’ve actually merged now

likefunny

You never returned at Parthenon. You worked for a team that is now affiliated with Parthenon. Parthenon wasn't a name change--it was a merger. If you didn't work there post-merger, you didn't work at Parthenon. A more accurate portrayal would be: EY xyz team (now part of EY-Parthenon). I suppose you could flip it and say EY-Parthenon (formerly EY xyz team) to make it clear you never learned the Parthenon way of doing things.

Much more prestigious and will get better Exit ops as a result. No way to verify, they’ll just check whether you worked for EY and whether title checks out

What’s Parthenon? I’ve heard of EY but the other name isn’t as reputable

As a current Strategy person at a big tech firm I can tell you this: When I’ve reviewed resumes for open positions on our team I definitely prefer someone from MBB or next tier consulting over B4, but that doesn’t mean I discard or don’t give a chance to B4 candidates. However, most of the MBB people I’ve interviewed do blow way past B4, but this is case by case and I have a KPMG colleague who is top notch

What happens when someone calls EY and asks “can you confirm what role/team this guy worked in?”

like

Nobody but other firm’s M&A/strategy outfits would even know or care.

like

Honestly nobody cares unless they’re former EY themselves.
