Assuming I’m going to do a conforming 20% loan, how much should I spend on a house? I’m out of NJ where the property taxes are anywhere between 10k to 20k per year.

From a FIRE perspective is it worth moving back in with toxic parents (to both save on NYC rent prices and help them out a bit financially)? Imagine being constantly miserable/mentally stressed anytime I will be at home, and a 2 hour commute each way to work, but parents don’t at all restrict my freedom (can stay with friends, go on mini-cations with boyfriend, etc. as often as I can/want).
